We came across this little pub when visiting the nearby Donnington Castle. It has been recently very tastefully refurbished and whilst we only stopped for a cuppa we were served by a very pleasant lady and the menu looks very appetising. There is an outside seating area overlooking a stream.

Lunch for 4 adults midweek on a beautifully sunny day. This is a recently renovated pub/restaurant in the picture postcard pretty village of Donnington on the outskirts of Newbury. It is a village pub from the outside but inside is given over entirely to a restaurant layout. There is a car park opposite with some bench tables on a small... More

Lovely pub, huge portions of food. Some dishes were really well done, but some not so great such as chicken ceaser salad which was just a chicken breast sliced onto three lettuce leaves. The duck salad looked more presentable. They were friendly and helpful and overall a good experience, basically pub food at pub prices. Nothing wrong with that x

Met friends for the quiz night - what a great evening. Such a shame it wasn't that busy. If you like a fun evening out this is a must as long as you're not the 'really serious quiz types'! That's not to say the quiz was easy - far from it - but its still fun all the same. Some... More

Have eaten here several times because the food has been fresh and delicious. My father lives locally and this is where we all love to go for lunch with him. Highly recommend the mussels! Why not walk up to the Castle afterwards? It is only up the road. The total refurbishment has been beautifully done, with great attention to detail.... More

Good day readers. My friend and I has a very pleasant lunch in the 3 Horseshoes, outside by the river. The outside dining area is fairly small, tucked away by the river adjacent to the car park. It's not the most beautiful place in the world, but is a great little sun-trap and not very busy of a Tuesday lunchtime... More

This is a completely different pub/restaurant now, it closed down and has now been refurbished. It has re-opened a few months ago with new, talented landlords serving great food and good beer (albeit a limited choice).

We had a beer and a burger. The burger was the best we had ever had. Staff are very friendly and although it was very quiet when we arrived a few more people were turning up when we left. Lovely to have a decent pub locally. Just one small request kronenbourg 1664 please!

We had a lovely evening here. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, but what was so nice was how friendly all the restaurant team were. Every effort was made to make us feel welcome. The surroundings are great very traditional, we loved the charity challenge what a great idea. Thank you for a lovely evening.
