Great atmosphere

A friend and I had lunch today at this lovely pub. Even though the menu is basic the food is to a high standard and delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient. Will definitely visit again.

The pub is now run by a great friendly couple, Chrissie and Dave, the new landlady is easy to chat to and according to my husband pulls a fantastic pint.😊 Despite their newness to the pub business they seem to have settled in really well, we were lucky enough today to stop off to try some of their new menu.... An average food, service and overall just about passable. Perhaps went there on wrong month of the year.

On our second visit to the Rising Sun under the new team we found that the food was as good as the first time. As a previous contributor pointed out the menu is small but the food is wonderfully fresh and not bought in and stored for a long time. I had beef cheek that melted in my cheek, the... More

We were staying in the village and went to The Rising Sun for a Saturday evening meal. The pub had a really friendly atmosphere with a good range of local beers. The restaurant area was pleasant and warm. Although the menu has only 5 starters and 5 main courses, this usually means that the food is fresh and this was... More

Just on the outskirts of Hungerford, this pub has Berks quality food (excellent chef) but with the expensive Berks prices. Lovely sunday roast. if youre in the area this is really worth a try

We went to the Rising Sun for a late Saturday lunch on a rainy November afternoon. The menu is certainly not standard pub fare, it is not run-of-the-mill comfort-zone pub grub. There are no lasagne and chips or tuna baguettes here. The menu is succinct, with around half a dozen starters and mains with a strong leaning towards game and... More

I paid an unplanned visit to this pub for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. After returning to work and looking it up on Trip Advisor it appears I am in good company. The menu was short - three or four choices of starters, mains and deserts as well as a range of sandwiches. I... More

My wife, myself and two friends had an evening meal here a few days ago. My wife and myself do not have large appetites consequently the meal was ideal for us: very tasty and well-presented. Our friends have larger appetites and whilst also thoroughly enjoying the meal, a little - not a lot - more volume would have left them... More

The food is lovely, great presentation, and very different menu ideas. Would have been great to have had a bread basket with homemade breads and the wine menu needs to have a wider range of non supermarket brands to compliment the lovely food. Service is excellent.
