Lovely teashop right on the canal, delicious cakes

Stopped off here after an afternoon of cycling around Newbury, we had a pot of tea for two and a treat each: very tasty homemade flapjack and shortbread. Lovely location to sit on the tables out the back, right on the water's edge.

We have stopped here for breakfast before and so thought we would have lunch here in this nice spot by the canal. Our memory of it was pretty ok, but the light lunch was poor and not good value for money. The ploughmans consisted of a piece of processed ham, one piece of sliced brown bread, a couple of small... This quaint, stone building on the Canal in Newbury was everything we hoped for in an English tea. We enjoyed our cream tea outside by the picturesque canal. The whole experience seemed to us Americans so very British. This, of course, is what we wanted. We would recommend this Teashop to anyone.

Stopped here for lunch on a visit to Newbury. The setting of this little place is just beautiful... It was a shame we couldn't sit by the canal but it was a very sunny day and I would expect it to be busy. My hubby and I both had sandwiches and both thoroughly enjoyed them... The homemade lemonade was really... More

My friend and I were meeting in Newbury for lunch and I used Trip Advisor to research somewhere to go as last time we'd wandered aimlessly searching for somewhere nice. Well, we will wander aimlessly no more after eating here! The weather was lovely so we sat outside by the canal and decided to have the afternoon tea which we... More

We are very pleased to have discovered this place. Gluten free options, very friendly service and child friendly. Our 15 month old particularly enjoyed having his own children's table and chairs to have his lunch, and made good use of the toys outside.

On our way to Highclere Castle (which is nearby), we wanted to stop somewhere near Newbury for coffee. Googled and found this one. Wow - what a great location. unfortunately for us it was not a good weather day but if it had been we would have been able to sit outside and enjoy the boats passing by on the... More

Best avoided if you're particular about cleanliness. I was served a dirty cup and asked for it to be changed and received a dirty, cracked cup instead, When I pointed this out I was told it was old! Some cakes were on open view and so could be crawled on by flies, this is in the hottest part of the... More

Lovely homemade scones with jam & cream and a nice cup of tea. All served in a mish mash of China, which is acceptable at this cute, quirky and quaint little tea shop. Most people sit outside taking in the lovely setting of the canal with the swans gliding past..,

I have eaten here on several occasions, and the food is always excellent. Lovely tea served in pretty little tea cups, might not be for everyone, but always good. Staff helpful and friendly, and they have gluten free items too.
