Great food, great atmosphere, great staff

I have now visited The Halfway on numerous occasions and cannot rate them highly enough. My wife and I were staying at the local Mercure and popped in to have a meal but, as we hadn't booked we weren't able to get a table (though in fairness they did try and squeeze us in) so we settled for a drink. A glass of average red and a large soda water and lime (should have) left... More

Popping in for a quick supper on the way home from holiday we felt as if we were celebrating all over again. Over the top theatrical décor, pianist playing in one corner, attentive staff and superb food. The mushroom soup was splendid, the 2 types of pork very good, on mash and kale with 'smears' of sauces. Certainly a place... More

I cannot rate this place highly enough. I had the lamb - everything cooked to perfection and my partner the steak which he also claimed to be superb. The decor was beautiful and quirky, the waiting staff polite and helpful. I would recommend to anyone but would say to maybe book before making the trip as they look very busy... More

Having spent many a lovely lunchtime and evening at this fabulous bistro, what more than to celebrate my 'Half Century' in the company of good friends, good food and of course good service....... Magda and her team excelled themselves yet again. I couldn't have asked for more. I didn't want my guests going hungry and that they didn't. Yes the... More

Having visited the Halfway many times I am sorry to say that our most recent visit was far from satisfactory, the service and The food were very disappointing and certainly nowhere near as good as on previous visits. Come on Halfway, pull your sock up.

I travelled with friends for a fun night in this quirky bistro. The menu has run of the mill. Both my friend and I ordered winner winner chicke dinner. We cut into the meat and it poured with blood. We drew this to the attention of staff. We then ordered a starter as a replacement. We were charged for both... More

I is with a sad hart that I read this and the fabrication of mistruths. It is the case with some chicken there can be some blood clotting near the bone but this is not (as any cook home cook would know) is not a sign of under cooking. As for being charged for the mains that where returned this... More

We went with friends after hearing from other friends that it was a good venue. Place was packed and the style of the venue gives a very cluttered appearance as the furnishings are quite ornate, my seat had to have 3 cushions on it for me to eat comfortably. My starter £8.95p 2 tiny scallops and a teaspoon of "hash... More

Had a family meal here to celebrate a birthday. Amazing food, the salt and pepper squid was melt in the mouth and the scallops divine. Mains portions were very generous and again cooked and presented beautifully. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. A great place to eat.
