Stunning meal with family!

We booked ahead at the halfway, we got to the resteraunt and although it is quite dark inside, it had a lovely welcoming feel. The food was absolutely fantastic, steak cooked to perfection. My wife and kids enjoyed theirs also. The only thing I can fault is that we were too close to the piano so we... read more

Chicken breast spicy mayo, Thai paste, salad, brioche bun, chips and homemade coleslaw. Delicious! The setting is great, cozy, candles and comfortable. Not cheap, 40 for mains, drink and coffee for two but more than worth every penny.

Me and my went to the halfway for a dinner that was truly amazing. We had a table in the bar area with a live piano playing which gives that extra to the atmosphere. Food was great, probably the best in Newbury area and so was the service really. Waiters were polite, quick and knew their job pretty well. Ohh,... More

It is a nice place with good food and a good atmosphere. The people were very friendly and we had a very nice evening. If you are from outside of Britain the food can be very disappointing some times, but we were pleasantly surprised. I will definitely come back on one of my next business trips.

My partner and I went for an evening meal with a friend on Saturday evening. I cannot rate our evening highly enough. The staff were as friendly and welcoming as always and the food was incredible! Everything was cooked to perfection, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and cannot wait to go back. Thank you :)

Went for a meal with a friend neither of us had been here for years but had heard good things about the food so thought we would give it a try. Food was ok but a bit overpriced for the size of the portion. Our visit was rather spoiled when, halfway through our main course, the waitress and a customer... More

Had a dinner last night with my family celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. Mussels for starter were sublime and the herrings were very tasty. For mains we opted for steaks which were exceptional, sea bream was cooked to perfection and the ham hock. This was a huge piece of meat, a little dry but overall the dish was very flavoursome.... 15 of us went for a work lunch and ordered various dishes. I opted for the beef burger and when it came out it looked nice; brioche bun, chips, onion rings and coleslaw. The patty itself wasn't a uniform flatness so actually eating it was quite tricky. It was also quite dry (and the 3 others who had the same... More

Fantastic food, if a little pricey. I've eaten here 4 times in the last year, 3 times the service was excellent, once we waited about an hour for the main course, so I'm putting that one down as an exception. Each time though the food was delicious. They might want to change the lightshades though as on one visit a... More

The special of seafood stew in a spicy sauce was like a thin curry with mussels and a few small bits of fish, the beer ham knuckle was better but the dill mash was swamped by the creamy mustard sauce. It also didn't help when they got the bill wrong, (and then after I pointed out the mistake) they tried... More
