We live fairly locally and wanted somewhere 'special' for an evening meal a couple of weeks ago (mid August). We'd never been here before but my husband booked for dinner based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor. Generally, its a lovely place - the food was nice and well presented and the service was very good.... but we were... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, I am glad you enjoyed the food and the location. I am sorry to read that you were cold in mid-august and that this would impact your choice of our restaurant! The weather has been very changeable this year but as of today it’s the first anyone has commented that... More

Cannot fault venue which is superb . Food variable and probably suffers from trying too hard. Not sure what to make of the roasted hake with onion bhajis, didn't really work.

Thank you for posting a review, I was glad to read that you loved the hotel and its décor. Food is always a subjective topic, what one person loves another may not. We try to create a menu that is both interesting and delicious using quality ingredients. In this case it may not have been to your taste but the... More

The executive chef changes the menu each day and includes local produce from fish from nearby whitby harbour to the best cuts of meat sourced from local farmers. The meal he created were art on a plate and delicious

Top quality ingredients, beautifully prepared and served. Linen napkins and "proper" crockery. What else is there to say!!

Quiet ambiance, plenty of choice, amazing flavours, well worth dressing for dinner! The Tournedos Rossini was superb.

All the food was superb - would recommend the Rossini. Service superb. Good wine selection. Wish the restaurant was nearer to home!

Trying to be something it isn't. The food was nothing special, edible but not brilliant. Pricey wine but tasted great. Service was ok.

Well worth a visit, you'll have to book. The menu is limited, only four items for each course on the standard menu. If you are visiting regularly the menu doesn't change much

This is a great place for good food. Just when you think the latest course is as good as it gets, along comes desert. Good choice of wines and beers too.
