Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Our 2nd visit to this tucked away gem, just as good this time around. A real step back in time,it's quirky cubicle style interior remains intact from its time as a hairdressers in the 1950's/60's. We indulged in a delicious Mother's Day special, a gorgeous array of sandwiches home made cakes served with Buck's Fizz handmade chocolates and our choice... More

This was our second visit and despite that Brad was on his own and only able to do drinks and cakes we were not disappointed. The best sultana scones ever. Fruit loaf and Wensleydale cheese only 75p for 2 slices of cake which is fantastic value. Assam tea served in the most devine shaped teapot with old fashioned design round... More

Visited today and had a lovely red pepper and tomato soup with crusty bread and home made croutons. We were rather full after this but couldn't resist and made room for a cake. Both had a cherry and almond scone and it was the best scone I've ever had, so good in fact that I took 2 to takeaway well!... More

Just come back from the Francis Tea rooms. We have been planning a visit for some time and we were not disappointed. The owners are just charming, sophisticated liberals who cannot do enough to help. Their attention to detail is spot on, with tea recommendations that are just perfect. My wife and 12 yo daughter just loved it. We will... More
