Description: Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

My daughters and I class the Francis tea rooms as our best/favourite treat of any visit to Scarborough. Every time we visit Scarborough a visit here is a must! The girls persuaded their dad to join us here for lunch when he drove us to Scarborough for our latest holiday. His mutterings of "but I want a meal" were quickly... More

Second visit and we were not disappointed. We had the afternoon tea for two and it was beautifully presented and everything was delicious.

Very disappointed with our latest visit. It has previously been excellent but was now found to be quite poor. Service was indifferent, table clothes looked grubby and tired and the food was no more than adequate. We did wonder if the business has changed hands.

We went to Francis Tea Rooms last Friday and I cant praise enough. We love love loved it.... The interior is lovely quirky and quaint. Traditional table linen, tea pots and cups & saucers, and the complimentary sweeties with the eat me label was a cute touch. The owners and waitress were fab, friendly and informative and very passionate about... More

Had a wonderful lunch in this delightful tea room. My second visit there with my relations in Scarborough and I will most definitely be going back for more. The allotment specials were particularly yummy…do try the cheesecake. Couldn't have been made more welcome or had such fantastic service. It's a jewel in Scarborough's crown!

We found this quaint and quirky tearoom on trip advisor. Based up on a hill in Scarborough it's like stepping back in time. There are little booths to sit in with white tablecloths, some with coloured embroidery. Mismatched bone china crockery. There is a varied and vast menu, all of which is prepared in the kitchens downstairs. We visit this... More

Scarborough struggles to come up with any really special tea shops but Francis Tea Rooms is a haven for afternoon tea. Everything is homemade (sandwiches, quiches, cakes, scones etc), very fresh and delicious. We found the tea room online and it's a good job as it's tucked in an unlikely back street. We're so glad we found it. The owners... More

We visited as a family with my sister who was over from Australia. We had a beautiful booth all to ourselves and first class service. The experience was a lot of fun and the food was lovely, good quality and very reasonably priced. We look forward to our next visit.

Always a five-star experience. Our third visit - and best to date! Amazing choice of delicious homemade food served in original vintage surroundings by the most genuine and helpful people you could ever hope to meet. Can't recommend this place highly enough!
