Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Wonderful afternoon tea in private room. Super friendly staff who were amazing with our 2 year old and couldn't have done more to make our trip memorable. Delicious food, homemade and prepared fresh. Gorgeous presentation and all the trimmings. Lots of top ups for our tea and even a goodie bag for the toddler to take away! Would definitely return!

Tried to book a table a week in advance via email but received no reply. Tried to ring - phone number not in use. Physically turned up during opening hours and they were closed - no explanation on their chalk board though. Very disappointed and really hope they re-open as heard such good things about them.

What a find!!!!!extremely good value, good service, good food, all the little extras on the table are so cute. Loved the layout as it made our afternoon quite private, and also a more 'manly' offer of baguette's. Will definitely be back!

Really fantastic and stumbled upon by accident. Excellent friendly and interesting staff who made myself and my eleven year old son feel very welcome. This is one of the most unusual and charming cafes I have ever been to with wonderful food, atmosphere and hospitality. Well done for being different.

I first reviewed Francis Tea Rooms in 2013 shortly after it opened. On that occasion I gave it 5. I have visited Francis's regularly since then, it is still a 5, in fact I would give it 6 if that was possible. Arrival at the tea rooms is always met with a very warm welcome (I really can't understand Darren... More

Well worth the walk up to South Cliff. Warm welcome, very reasonably priced food and great history to learn about the shop

This is a little gem of a tea room and we only found out about it by the landlady of our B&B as it's a little off the main road and not where you may be wandering as a tourist. It's a beautiful place, the little hairdressing booths from the 1940s are still in place and you take Afternoon Tea... More
