Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Amazing scone!

Visited today and had a lovely red pepper and tomato soup with crusty bread and home made croutons. We were rather full after this but couldn't resist and made room for a cake. Both had a cherry and almond scone and it was the best scone I've ever had, so good in fact that I took 2 to takeaway... read more

Just come back from the Francis Tea rooms. We have been planning a visit for some time and we were not disappointed. The owners are just charming, sophisticated liberals who cannot do enough to help. Their attention to detail is spot on, with tea recommendations that are just perfect. My wife and 12 yo daughter just loved it. We will... More

This place really is a hidden gem and so unique! We booked in advance and showed up early but it wasn't a problem as the owners were so welcoming and just so lovely and showed us to one of the old fashioned booths straight away. It's clear they really are passionate about this place and their menu, and delivering brilliant... More

Today my partner and I went to visit the tea rooms and was pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival we were offered one of there fabulous vintage booths to sit in and a menu to look at. To start us off we went and had a look through the vast selection of loose leaf tea where we decided upon a lovely chocolate... More

Off to Scarborough again, couldn't wait to visit my all favourite place Francis Tea Rooms. Love the quiches and salad and I am a lover of different types of tea and they have a great selection to choose from. Have to admit though I went twice during my short stay. After shopping and the hustle and bustle its a dream... More

We turned up on a quiet tuesday afternoon and instantly given the opportunity to choose a seat in one of the booths. We selected the afternoon tea and could choose any tea..... brilliant selection, even liqourice flavour. We nibbled on a few of the sweets that were in the booth while waited. The food and tea arrived promptly and proper... More
