Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Love these tearooms! A trip to Scarborough isn't complete without a visit here

We've had a lovely afternoon tea, served in china - loose leaf tea is always a nicer taste - and the warm Stilton and walnut scone with homemade apricot chutney was a-maaa-zing!

Lovely location but slightly let down by a lacklustre lemon sponge cake to accompany my coffee. Nevertheless a useful stopping point to write postcards.

What a treat! Really enjoyed our visit to tea rooms, huge variety of teas on offer all served in delicate china cups by friendly staff. Would highly recommend delicious sandwiches and savoury tarts served with a generous helping of salad. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Scarborough. What a gem!

Loved this place..Big puts of tea and china cups with lovely homemade cakes and scones etc. Delicious and great friendly service. They only take cash though but when we tried to pay by card and couldn't they were so kind abs trusted us to come back and pay. Which we did of course! Highly recommend this little gem.

I've read reviews and was determined to go find these tea rooms. We were not to be disappointed. My dad is in a wheelchair and we were in luck that the biggest booth was empty. The decor is great and the history of the premises is really interesting. The teas to choose from are seriously amazing. I went with Peppermint... More

Absolutely amazing what wonderful friendly service. Afternoon tea was delightful. What a lovely unique experience will defiantly return with my family and would recommend to everyone. Probably worked off all the calories id eaten with the walk back to the beach.

No matter how many times we visit Scarborough (usually three or four times a year) we always discover something new. In this case for "new" read" old or at least "vintage." Situated on the often overlooked South Street near the Ramshill area of South Bay these tea rooms were originally a traditional 1940s ladies hair stylists. The individual booths (for... More

I had completely forgotten about these Tea Rooms. Met a friend here for afternoon tea and it was like going back in time. Proper linen tablecloths, china cups and teapots. Lovely dish of sweets on the table (but we had to ask for them to be removed as we just kept on eating them!). Looking forward to taking my Mum... More

Could not find anywhere to escape the cold on a windy March day. Then we were pointed to an unprepossessing South Street where Francis Tea Rooms looks like a tiny cake shop but once inside reveals old fashioned cubicles and outstanding food and service. We had tarts, soup and puddings. Loved it. The wife says we must go back for... More
