Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

I first reviewed Francis Tea Rooms in 2013 shortly after it opened. On that occasion I gave it 5. I have visited Francis's regularly since then, it is still a 5, in fact I would give it 6 if that was possible. Arrival at the tea rooms is always met with a very warm welcome (I really can't understand Darren... More

Well worth the walk up to South Cliff. Warm welcome, very reasonably priced food and great history to learn about the shop

This is a little gem of a tea room and we only found out about it by the landlady of our B&B as it's a little off the main road and not where you may be wandering as a tourist. It's a beautiful place, the little hairdressing booths from the 1940s are still in place and you take Afternoon Tea... More

My wife and adult son enjoyed luncheon at the café during a weeklong visit to the East Yorkshire Coast- one of our favourite places to which we return again and again. Parking beside the building which was a set location on the ITV daytime show 'The Royal', we always walk into Scarborough and always try to have lunch at the... More

this little cafe makes you smile as you go back in time to china cups embroidered table cloths, tunes from long ago playing softly in the background. Seating is in the original wooden hairdressing booths, the food is homemade and beautifully done. one booth is large enough for a tea party with lovely stained glass windows but as it gets... More

Just been for afternoon tea whilst on a girly weekend. Absolutely gorgeous tea rooms 40's era with all original features. The booths are fab & really add to the ambience of the place. The owners & staff were wonderful, very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. We opted for afternoon tea for two at £6.50pp, bargain!! This consisted of... More

We had seen the a -board and followed it to the most beautiful tearooms.Coming from Harrogate with our local being Betty's ....this was even better. They explained the history of the former tearooms being where ladies went into the booths so no one saw their roots being done ....I was impressed as mine is bright red and not pretty when touch...
