Description: Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Lovely vintage tea room. Very friendly staff and helpful. Lovely afternoon tea and fabulous surroundings. Felt we were stepping back in time.

Off to Scarborough again, couldn't wait to visit my all favourite place Francis Tea Rooms. Love the quiches and salad and I am a lover of different types of tea and they have a great selection to choose from. Have to admit though I went twice during my short stay. After shopping and the hustle and bustle its a dream... More

We turned up on a quiet tuesday afternoon and instantly given the opportunity to choose a seat in one of the booths. We selected the afternoon tea and could choose any tea..... brilliant selection, even liqourice flavour. We nibbled on a few of the sweets that were in the booth while waited. The food and tea arrived promptly and proper... More

This tearoom was in an ex-hairdressers, and has interesting wooden booths to sit in. However, the food was average. I was intending to have a cake, which I can seldom resist, but found it easy to resist these offerings. Could do better.

Hi Cake Fans Just an update to my review of six months ago. Francis is still around, still fabulous, and frankly the best value noshtastic afternoon tea I've ever had the pleasure of eating (£6.50! That's outrageously reasonable). The owners, Brad and Sarah are such lovely people and their love for their tea room shines through, making every visit exquisite... More

This place is pretty special. After reading some good reviews online I decided to book a table for afternoon tea to surprise my girl friend for her birthday. The welcome was warm and friendly and I was immediately blown away by the 1930's decor. We were allocated a table in a booth and I went for a nosy around and... More

Excellent tea rooms with very original decor and delicious afternoon tea. The staff were extremely friendly and you can feel they are passionate about the place. If you want to travel back in time while enjoying a nice afternoon tea, this is the place for you! They also had hot food that sounded fantastic, although we did not try it.

Interesting interior as used to be a hairdressers but not as you'd imagine...wooden partitions divide the spaces you sit in. Lots of different teas to drink and great homemade flans and sandwiches to eat. Never had the cake but my friend recommends the afternoon tea. Nice and different for lunch would also be great to hire out for small parties/... More
