Description: Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

Although not rolling in money, we are fortunate to be able to stay in quite a few different places, as well as eating out fairly regularly. Despite this I was only moved to write my first ever Tripadvisor review following our first visit to Francis Tea Rooms as part of our little girl Tilly's second birthday celebrations last October,as the... We had heard about the Francis tearoom on TV. We stumbled across it on a very wet day, we were politely asked if we had booked, which we hadn't ,but they squeezed us into one of the shared booths. The other couple were extraordinarily awkward, but were dealt with kindly and politely ,trying to accommodate their requests.( a smoked salmon... More

In a small back street in the South Cliff area, Francis has unique decor and the service is truly wonderful. After the first coffee, there is an endless pot. The cakes with homemade jam, savoury tarts with great combinations of flavour and the plethora of teas makes this a must visit tea room. Booking at busy times is needed. As... More

Now this is a jewel of a find for a Sunday afternoon. Located in South street, South Cliff, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, the Francis tea rooms are just the place for tea and a scone, and a lot more if you want a substantial lunch. What is so good about this place, apart from the food is the decor and the... More

My daughters and I class the Francis tea rooms as our best/favourite treat of any visit to Scarborough. Every time we visit Scarborough a visit here is a must! The girls persuaded their dad to join us here for lunch when he drove us to Scarborough for our latest holiday. His mutterings of "but I want a meal" were quickly... More

Second visit and we were not disappointed. We had the afternoon tea for two and it was beautifully presented and everything was delicious.

Very disappointed with our latest visit. It has previously been excellent but was now found to be quite poor. Service was indifferent, table clothes looked grubby and tired and the food was no more than adequate. We did wonder if the business has changed hands.

We went to Francis Tea Rooms last Friday and I cant praise enough. We love love loved it.... The interior is lovely quirky and quaint. Traditional table linen, tea pots and cups & saucers, and the complimentary sweeties with the eat me label was a cute touch. The owners and waitress were fab, friendly and informative and very passionate about... More
