Good food

Good service. Food was at a good standard. Well known for its carvery which looked and smelt very good. Food reasonably priced. Eating areas very spacious so you are not having to squeeze passed chairs/tables.

Large open space, so could be noisy. Extensive menu. Good pub grub. Large portions. Roast potatoes with almost every thing. Good pricing structure. Helpful staff. Discussion about the tap water and the bottles water. Member of staff explained the water comes from the pub's own well .... but strangely enough the bottled water tasted almost the same. Didn't see the... More

It is just the best in Devon, can't comment about the other food because the roast is all the locals go for. Expensive a bit, but worth every penny.

Thankfully the main staff are still here, however, some new staff are providing exceptional customer service both behind the bar and in the Hunters Lodge. Food as always is superb. Otter ales are kept in tip top condition as cask ales should be and not left in the hands of inexperienced cellar staff. Booking is recommended as this is a popular... More

Have had lunch here many times and it never disappoints. Same in the evenings the meals are very acceptable. Plenty of room to move and seating is not too close together.

We have been in here many times and will return again as we spend most birthdays in here it's lovely . The kitchens have just been redone and the staff are all friendly , the team work very hard there that's why we always return as its very popular , but it is advised to book on Sunday's as they... First off you need to book as the car very is very busy. They have two sittings, 1200 and 1330 so if you go for the 1200 you have 90 minutes to eat and move on. No point trying to move to the bar once your time is up as that will all be booked with diners too, that is... More

Visited this pub with friends, for a prebooked meal. We have used this place many times and the carvery option still blows you away! Choice of 4 meats, and if you like, you CAN have a bit of everything. Generous portions are given, and you are free to get your plate "fully loaded" with a great choice of veg, mini... More

Great place for a lunchtime Carvery but if it's a Sunday you need to book in advance. Great place with friendly staff and excellent food.
