We saved the best till last

We have just returned home from a 24 day holiday touring Cornwall and Devon and dined in many restaurants. Moore's was the last and certainly the best, hence the title. We were offered when booking the last available table at 8.00pm. That, in itself, is proof of the popularity of the... read more

We have visited this restaurant twice and have enjoyed our meals on both occasions. The restaurant is fairly small but the tables are well spaced. On the first occasion there was just the two of us and on a Saturday evening in winter time the restaurant was well patronised. The second time we visited it was a Thursday evening in... More

We visited on a theme evening and there was a super atmosphere, but not the best evening to judge the food as it was quirky more than impressive. I shall reserve judgement on the food until we have visited again on a regular evening for dinner. This seems to be very much a 'local restaurant' where you have your meal... More

Moore's gives you the feeling that you're in someone's front room - which it probably was in bygone days, since the restaurant was once a pair of Victorian cottages. The menu is sensibly limited to dishes that they do well - which they most certainly do. We had venison terrine and crab thermidor to start, followed by rack of Devon... More

Very good meal for 6 of us, including a wheelchair user. Brilliant duck and excellent (and patient) service.

The atmosphere was warm, friendly and informal. If you were feeling a little down when you arrived you wouldn't be on leaving. Our requests to rmake changes to the menu were met with an "of course you can" response. The set menu had a wide enougth selection to cater for my wife's vegeatarian bias. Really good value for fine dining... More

Thank you very much for your lovely review. Although the menu is only small we always have vegeterian options avaliable and Jonathan often will have something up his sleeve if other choices are required. We look forward to seeing you again. More

First visit but won't be the last. They looked after us so well. Food great. Service spot on. Can't wait to go again. Thank you.

We went for a special occasion, on a recommendation. The food was very nice and tasty. Not quite the fine dinning we had been told to expect, but good nevertheless. Wine was good and not over expensive. The big disappointment was the poor quality of the decor. Shabby curtains, drab paintwork and a very tired carpet was really not good... More

So glad you enjoyed the food and wine. Sorry that you felt your evening was spolit by the decor. We are at the moment in the middle of re-decorating and totally take on board your comments. If you chose to visit us again when next in Sidmouth it would be great if you came to see the difference. More

Moore's has been in Michelin for about 10 years now & you can see why. The food was interesting, beautifully cooked & very good value. The only minor criticism is that the 'bar' (2 seats & a stove) is a tiny space tht is also a passage & the decor in the dining room has not aged well. However -... More

My Grandparents kindly booked a table for Christmas day lunch time. On arrival we were given canapés and "Bubbly" and then gave our orders for starters and main courses. The starter was two spears of asparagus-one wrapped in parma ham and one wrapped in smoked salmon leaning on a cube of tasteless hard mousse. Then we had the great pleasure... More

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your Christmas day with us. I apologise for the delay between your starter and main. With so many people in unfortunately there where some tables that had to wait. I dealt with serving your food personally and did say better late then never but this was accompanied with a sincere apology for... More
