Researched cafes the previous evening to see where I could find breakfast outside our hotel before 9am. The Chattery was the only option I found. Tables inside and out, set slightly above street level and back from the pavement. Friendly service, standard cooked breakfast options. Good value

Just had an amazing fish pie at The Chattery which was one of the best I can remember in a long time! Great service with a smile and smart welcoming ambience. Just as good as I last remember and will be back again. Keep up the good work!

On the 29th August, my family and I stopped at Sidmouth on route to our camp site further up the coast. We had been driving for quite some time and wanted to stop for some lunch. We had been to The Chattery before, maybe last year? We enjoyed it then so we thought that we'd give it another go. To... More

Good food, great value and service with a smile, what more could you ask for? The lasagne was delicious and the atmosphere was great, made more so by the gentleman who served us.

We eat here almost every week & we get excellent quality food, service with a laugh & a chuckle! Gail always cooks just what we ask for. We love mash & we can have it with everything, no trouble.

We found this lovely little restaurant on our final night in Sidmouth. The perfect place to sit outside and have a meal without being on the seafront. Our dog was made to feel welcome, which is always a bonus to me. Great food, good value for money and pleasant staff, what more could you ask for! Highly recommend a visit... More

One of the few places that one can get a 'proper' British dinner; for example a chicken and leek pie with both top and bottom crust, cut from a big multiple-serving pie tin, like your mum used to make, served with fresh vegetables, proper mashed potatoes and gravy! such a welcome relief from all the chips on offer during Festival... My partner and I had breakfast here on Sunday. We had looked at a couple of places they were either really expensive or we couldn't take our dog in. Then we found the chattery, they had tables outside but better still our dog was welcome inside. We both had a full breakfast which came with coffee and toast . It was... More

Had a cup of tea when we first popped in but obviously very popular and busy so we booked for an early evening meal prior to a Folk Festival event, good value and quality food served well. It was very popular with other festival attendees and was fully booked, wine and beer available but really a café most of the... More
