So many people recommended this restaurant to us and finally on a busy Sidmouth Folk Festival evening we had time to try it out. Starters- prawn and clam fritters and king prawns In garlic- excellent. Main course- prawn and monkfish risotto and hake with a garlic and coriander crust- excellent. Dessert- homemade ginger ice cream- delicious. Served with a bottle... More

This is a small seafood restaurant. I had clam and prawn fritters to start. These were quite tasty. For main course I had John Dory. I was surprised to find it still on the bone. John Dory is quite a bony fish with more than 60% of it consisting of bone. I cannot recollect having eaten it on the bone... More

Have just returned from a most enjoyable week in Sidmouth. The highlight by far being a return visit to Neil's fish restaurant by our group of 10. Having eaten in a few of the best fish restaurants in London, In my opinion, Neil's surpasses them on price, quality and service. I had a starter of Scallops, followed by Turbot, both... More

I can't think of anything negative to say. Excellent food and wine, with great service. I had the fish fritters to start and didn't want it to end!! G&L

Fantastic first trip to this restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, going the extra mile to talk to us. Prawn fritters were great. My first time having Lobster and loved it. Good selection of veg. Desserts were great. The lemon brulee came to the table flaming. My 8 year old devoured the 3 scoops of white chocolate... More

We booked a table for six as a Birthday celebration mid-week. On arrival we were told that another party had our table, but one would be ready soon. There was a little hanging around waiting in the doorway, in which drinks and/or seats could have been offered, but were not. This saddened me a little as four of our party... More

We decided to visit this restaurant and make Sidmouth our overnight stay on our way back from Exeter. We started with the Prawn and Crab fritters which were delicious followed by the John Dory (only one portion left - you are warned on the website) and the Crusted Hake. The fish was superb and the potatoes were good. The mixed... More

What we liked was the fact thAt although fully booked - when we turned away disappointed the waitress ran down the road after us and said that a couple had just finished their meal and would we like to take their table!? How's that for service apart from the delicious food, great choice of wines and the 'buzz' around the... More

Whilst hunting for sale properties in the Sidmouth area, we booked an evening meal on a Saturday night, based on reading the Tripadvisor reviews. Small portion of veg, quite expensive, and the steak was barely edible. My partner's fish main course was ok. Overall, I think the owner is resting on his laurels.
