Four of us had a carvery which was very tasteless & stewed, will not be returning. Terrible meal, the Beef was so tough you could not eat it,we took it home for the dog, all vegetables were hard not able to eat them. We did say that it was not good but was just given the bill with no apology. Money for... More

This is my second review of the Bowd, first time a few negatives, however this time the meal was lovely. I had roast pork and the crackling was out of this world. We will definitely be going again and regularly as we are local.

We are delighted you have returned and that any initial doubts have been ironed out. As previously mentioned, our carvery meats are sourced locally and are of the best quality so we're very pleased they were cooked to perfection. Whilst replying to your review, we wish to add that we take all reviews seriously and continue to strive to meet... More

needed a quick early supper on Sunday evening and the Bowd was right next door to B&B. Food was OK, service was good, but the restaurant was a bit noisy. Convenient and under similar circumstances we'd go back.

We are pleased you enjoyed the food and the service. We are a busy public house and therefore, at peak times, the sound of people chatting and enjoying themselves can be quite loud, and we are sorry this did not please you. More

I'm sometimes embarrassed at the petty criticisms of my fellow reviewers, it's as though they want to spot something, indeed anything, to find fault with. I noticed the following in one of the reviews for this pub and I quote "We were in the market for a quick sandwich which were OK but did not need the oven chips with... More

We are so pleased you found everything to your liking particularly the management and staff. Obvious apologies for the power cut but delighted you returned the following day for your "last supper" and wholeheartedly enjoyed our cuisine. We too hope that one day we will be able to install air conditioning for the sake of both customers and staff. With... More

I visited the Bowd Inn a few years back during a field trip to Budleigh Salterton and how it has changed since since then. Before, it was a run of the mill restaurant but now has become very cosmopolitan than before. Really liked the new decor. A small group of us tried the cavery and it was throughly delicious and... The Bowd Inn has recently been refurbed and is very pleasant inside but has a personality problem. Is it a pub (albeit gastro) or a restaurant? Two signs on the bar/counter prove this confusion; on the left a message says find a table in the pub side and then order at the bar; on the right a sign says wait... More

We are pleased you found the service was "superbly friendly and efficient" We try to cater for all needs, and with respect you are the first person to our knowledge who has missed the signs, however these are there as we like to offer table service to those who are perhaps less mobile and appreciate waiter service. We are now... More

Lovely food, lovely staff, went 4 nights on the trot while on holiday in the area. Wheelchair accessible.

In need of an evening meal after a day out sight seeing and walking, I knew of this pub, and had been there a few times in past years when visiting the area. Although still quite early (6pm), the car park was pretty full, which I thought a positive sign, and so we headed in and sought a table. Being... More

Thank you for your kind comments regarding our staff, with whom we have carried out extensive training, and so it is comforting to know that the training has paid off. We are pleased you enjoyed the wide variety of veg, but sorry if some were not at their best. We will try to pay further attention to this area in... More
