Organised an outing to dine at the Glen Lui. Staff very helpful and friendly and food excellent in all aspects ie choice, flavour, presentation and hot on the plate. Would definitely recommend as worth a visit.

We were out walking and stopped for coffee. The waiter was very nice and served us in the lounge. We checked out a menu for possibly coming back for dinner. It appeared to expensive for the meals on the menu.

We had a very nice meal and the staff was very friendly but the highlight was the sticky toffee pudding...heavenly!

Having visited Ballater annually for over 20 years, we have always looked forward to a meal or two at the Glen Lui. This year we had two evening meals there, and as always the food was of the highest quality. The setting is really beautiful, and the staff friendly and extremely helpful. It will undoubtedly be our first choice again... More

Really good food, attentive service, lovely setting, thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Venison was superb as was duck, crab, salmon, creme brûlée, chocolate fondant, I could go on. Really nothing bad to say at all.

Food was excellent: both our starters and the mains, as well as the deserts. Duck and pigeon salad, melon salad, venison, pork, all very nicely cooked. Only 3 beers on tap, but this is not a pub; it is a very nice restaurant in a small hotel with very nice views. Only reason I am not rating it to the... More

This is a pricey menu if you just happen to be staying at the hotel and want a simple supper. But this is the sort of food you'd travel for - extremely good quality, beautiful food, so you can treat yourself.

After eating some very average meals elsewhere, it was a pleasure to eat here. The menu was locally oriented, but imaginatively varied. The cooking was a good standard. The wine list reasonable and of a decent standard. The service was friendly and of a good standard. Be sure to book..

Scallops were cooked perfectly, the pancetta and blood pudding were excellent accompanyments to the scallops. The Chicken supreme was plump and juicy, stuffed with the right amount of brie the carrots, beans, and broccoli were also perfectly cooked. The lamb was excellent with servings of both the milder and stronger tasting portions, complimented by excellent potatoes and a wonderful bed... More

A great evening, made by the very pleasant staff! Food a great surprise, best meal out by far. I had the scallops which were super, my partner and mother started with the terrine which they thoroughly enjoyed. Mains were the lamb and venison, lovely. We will be back
