Many years I've been eating here and I've never been disappointed, a beautiful building and garden with friendly service. The food is to die for with so much flavour that you will never be disappointed.

Great food and such a well thought out menu! My wife is allergic to garlic (and does not like chilli) and it was not an issue, the clever chef simply adapted his dishes and we all had a splendid meal. Apart from the food, which as I have said was wonderful, mention has to be made of the service style,... More

Our daughter and son-in-law had enthused over this restaurant for some time, so we were very much looking forward to our visit yesterday evening. We had very high expectations of St Helena and thought that it could not possibly live up to what we were anticipating. How wrong were we! From the moment we stepped through the gate into the... I always liked to eat at restaurants that were in the good food guide as it was always a true guide to finding 'good food'. Never used the michelin guide as I was searching for 'good food' not stars. So despite hearing good things about St Helena from many people in Bedford I never went as it wasn't in the... More

...unfortunately we're only managing every few months But what a treat is served up everytime we dine here Last night was no exception The food and service was as sensational as ever, we ate: a goats cheese mousse, smoked salmon scotch egg, fillet steak and luxurious puds We drank lovely gin and tonics with elder flower, a 2003 bottle of... The moment you walk through the gates at St. Helena's you are made to feel special. Browsing the delights on the menu whilst sipping Champagne in the beautifully secluded garden starts off the evening perfectly. The Staff are very attentive and Raff and Frank are the perfect hosts. When it finally comes to the food well what can I say,... More

I have a confession to make. I have lived in Bedford and surrounding area for nearly 40 years, but have never visited this restaurant. I always thought it was too pretentious and the staff were obsequious. Well maybe they can be if people want that, but we were treated as we wanted to be - politely but with no fawning.... More

From start to finish the atmosphere was warm and friendly with a family run feeling. This is a very high class restaurant but with an ambience that put us at our ease. Posh but not pretentious. The food is highly recommended and we were feeling nicely full at the end of the meal. We were made to feel that our... More

There are many things that are surprising about St Helena, but why this restaurant has been missed form the Michelin guide in any form is one of them. The food is presented in the most beautiful way with exquisite attention to detail from the amuse-bouche to the petite fours there was nothing out of place. I had Moroccan Spiced Quail... More

My first visit to this hidden gem and certainly not my last. From the moment we stepped through the gates we could not have been more looked after than if we had been at The Savoy. Starting off in the lovely garden sipping our Champers , it was the start of a taste bud extravaganza. Appetiser so full of flavour,... More
