First visit this year - seemed better than ever

Had lunch last week on the spur of the moment. Only tables in the bar area were available but that was fine as they are set well apart. Food was great as always and the wine list is wonderful. Like most great places the friendly and efficient team add to the enjoyment. Lovely garden too for when... read more

I went here with friends for a meal on Sunday. The service was quick (although I think had our table not been booked we would have waited a lot longer, as the place was very full). Had the traditional Sunday roast and it was delicious. And the dessert, which was marmalade ice cream on bread and butter pudding was just... More

My sister Jo organised her 60th birthday meal for 10 family members. When we arrived the bar staff were ready to take our drink orders. Considering how busy it was with other eaters & drinkers we were served very quickly. After our drinks we were taken to a side room where we were given a set menue . Jo had... More

Firstly, there is the old original part of the building, low beams, etc, which looks very attractive. Secondly, there is the new oak built conservatory, which is light and airy. We sat near in an area leading to this, which while being OK, was not ideal. Rather dark. Having said that, the restaurant is very good, excellent menu, with a... More

A charming restaurant in the countryside. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The menu is concise and also changes - which is good, no excuses for bad food. I have enjoyed the scallops for entrees and, when on, the belly pork for a main. The portion size is satisfying but do not expect trencherman portions.... More

Repeatedly I have experienced excellent food and service at The Plough. A very good front of house team and first class kitchen. As I note in the title: you know that the ingredients are fresh ly sourced from top suppliers. It really shows. Brake brothers this is not. Increasingly there are more vegetarians in my company. They are always happy... More

See title, nice restaurant for an evening out with friends. Food was very good, as was service. A little pricey though.

It's beautiful. It's an authentic old pub where you can dress up and not feel too overdone. The Prosecco was excellent and the food was really good. The pigeon and risotto starter was definately something I'd try again and the torpedo fillet steak with bearnaise sauce (came in a cute mini saucepan) was very very succulent. Definately won me over.... More

We have been here on a few occasions since my last review and generally had a good time and good food but usually in a party. I booked for Valentines Night and particularly asked not to be sat in the conservatory/barn area when i booked as i dint enjoy the atmosphere in there (see previous review). Unbelievably, we were led... More

The Plough had been highly recommended so we had high expectations. The starter of mussels was very nice, really well cooked. However the complimentary bread was very undercooked and doughy. Mains were very good - steak & chips and lemon sole, although £29 for the steak meal was quite pricey. The pudding of pear & walnut tatin was nice but... More
