Without doubt BARI deservedly ranks as the best indian restaurant in Carlisle, Cumbria

Food: food is average. Nothing overwhelming considering it is a restaurant. Service: Awful service. Owners wife seems to walk around with a cup of tea in her hand and biscuits to dip in it. She was the only waitress. She was wearing the clothes that she wears at home. No manners what so ever. The restaurant was pretty much like... More

I have visited the Bari several times and i have always been well impressed, I have never had a bad meal here, There are several exotic curries that you do not find in other Indian restaurants, My favourite are the lamb dishes as the meat is always melt in the mouth, but the Venison is also fantastic. Make sure you... More

This chef really knows how to cook lamb - and that's one of the signs of a great Indian restaurant. Every dish is delicious. This is one of the best Indian restaurants we've been to and we've eaten all over the North and Midlands. We're not keen on the garlic flavoured mint riata but that's a personal choice as we're... I had a great curry there but a lot of opinion was shared about how we should eat the curry and that the extra yoghurt and water will not put out the fire. Thankfully the waiter had pity on me a brought some warm water which did put out the spiciness of the curry.

My partner and I took her Dad to sample the best Cumbria has to offer in Indian food. We were not disappointed! Wagyu (Japanese beef) and springbok had been added to the menu. I asked Mr Bari to make me something with a medium spice with the wagyu. My partners Dad asked for something similar but with kangaroo. Tandoori chicken... More

We were searching Carlisle for something to eat and we stumbled across a great smell. We followed our noses and came across Bari. The service was fantastic as was the food. Very tasty and plentiful dishes accompanied by one of the largest Naan breads we've ever seen.

. Dinned here again.. Food and service were great.. I had a mixed kebab special and my partner had a balti.. Both dishes were more than satisfactory in presentation, taste and portion size. Both dishes came with complementary Naan bred which are huge and one would of been enough. Cant fault the food - will be back soon.

Visited last night after reading other reviews and can only concur that it is indeed a very good curry house.
