This was our 4th visit and we were very disappointed to have been served small portions of the haddock and certainly not up to the usual lovely large piece one normally gets. Did note however that some folks portions seemed very reasonable, must have just been our unlucky day. Will give it one more chance though!

The greeting, the service, the food the attention to detail, all excellent. If you only have one fish supper in Carlisle, come here.

We lunched here on the 26th, a party of 7 including our grand-daughter resplendent in her graduation robes. We hadn't booked and the young man who attended to us quickly arranged for us all to sit together. Six of us had fish and one had scampi which he proclaimed to be the nicest he had ever eaten. The fish and... More

We came here on Saturday afternoon and it was really busy. There was only one table left upstairs and it had dirty crockery on but this was cleared as soon as we sat down. We both ordered battered sausage, chips and curry sauce and a drink. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The food was obviously freshly cooked.... More

We now visit The Fryery when we are in Carlisle & would like to eat fish & chips. We feel they are the best fish & chips ever.... so fresh, fish succulent. Staff so friendly & welcoming, would not go anywhere else for the Great British meal.

My husband and I nipped into the Fryery for a late lunch today, we have been several times before the foods is always great and the service is friendly and attentive. Best Fish and Chip shop in Carlisle - they offer both take-away (in cardboard boxes to reduce soggyness) and a good restaurant service. My husband is a coeliac and... More

Excellent chip shop, I have been here a few times over the years and always consistent, good friendly service too! :) You can either sit in or takeaway, the takeaway version is served in cardboard boxes to stop the food from sweating & batter going horrible & soggy!

To start with I was happy with this place as a choice to eat in, the menu was simple and no nonsense, the prices seemed reasonable and a quick glance at other patrons plates showed good portions of good looking food, and the whole place looked clean. We ordered and the food arrived in short order and the first half... More

What a lovely place. The Haddock and chips were a delight! Clean, crisp batter encasing fleshy large flakes of creamy haddock and a good size fillet. The chips were also lovely. I write this review some 4 hours after our visit and we are all still too full for dinner! Fantastic smaller portion available for the kids. Defo worth a... More
