Excellent food in hist ettn

This pristine restaurant is a bit of a rabbit warren of rooms in a lovely old beamed building dating back to the Civil War. Everything is gleaming from the starched white tablecloths to the smart uniforms worn by the numerous and eager staff. The employees aren't all British, most of them I think... read more

Was taken here as a surprise for my birthday, and I was not disappointed. The food was absolutely exceptional, the service was amazing, even when machines let them down. The atmosphere was excellent, if a little vibrant, and I was blown away by the entire experience. Keep up the good work!

We went to eat here for dinner. It was just down the street from our hotel. The building was beautiful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We went in the afternoon to see if there were any tables for the evening and the woman kindly offered as a table for 6:30. My boyfriend and I sat behind a wall... More

I've been living in Colchester for 17 years now and during that time my wife and I have visited the Siege House numerous times. We always loved the venue with it’s original black wooden beams white walls and little red circles marking out the bullet holes that date back to the Civil War when there was a lot of fighting... The dishes are well constructed albeit a little pretentious, illustrated in the prices. The restaurant is well laid out, the piano is a nice touch, but intrusive lighting kills the mood.

Took a friend (who lives in Paris) here for dinner last month. She had steak, I had pork in a yummy Calvados sauce. We both had scallops for starters. As usual staff were good but unobtrusive and the food was divine. Considering the quality fo the food I think the prices are fair but it's not somewhere I'd go every... More

A group of ten of us had dinner at The Old Seige House. In every respect it is an excellent restaurant. We were staying in the Rose and Crown so The Old Seige House is very convenient, about 5 minutes walk away. The exterior is stunning and puts you in an excellent mood for the meal. The interior is fantastic... More

On my second visit last week with my partner I found the friendness and attentiveness of the waitresses as good as ever where nothing was too much trouble. The food was of very high standard and presented excellently. The meal i had was cooked to how i requested it. i will most certainly be returning in the near future

It was a miserable drizzly Sunday - we were visiting our daughter at Uni & decided we would go out for Sunday lunch. We did not have a booking but we were accommodated (4 of us) without fuss the restaurant was fairly busy but had a good vibe. . The restaurant was clean & well presented, we sat at a... More

There was nothing we disliked at this place and we can happily recommend it. The service, the food and the place itself is perfect for a memorable night out. We ordered the sole which was the best we ever had, simply delicious.
