Pleasant experience

As a local to Colchester, I am always keen to champion local talent and this is a great restaurant on the edge of the town centre. I would say that the standard of cooking is very good for the area but has a bit more needed in finesse and execution before it gets a fine dinning status. The food... read more

Had a great night at The Old Siege House, with some tender duck and an amazing salad for starter (and I don't even eat salads). Really nice waitresses and great surroundings.

I ate here with some friends on a very busy Saturday evening. The food was outstanding and the service was just as good! On arrival we had a warm and lovely welcome and after having a few drinks at the bar we were shown to our table. We were given complementary bread which was a nice touch whilst we waited... More

The atmosphere is good. The food was reasonable but not the best. The vegetables were under cooked and the Salmon was slightly over cooked. I was not impressed with the presentation either, too fussy. The service was a little slow although the staff were polite. I do not think this was value for money. I will not be visiting again.

My friend took me here for my birthday, and boy what a treat it was. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent value, excellent atmosphere....what more can I say. The lunch time menu offers amazing value and you really must visit. With the new owners doing such a great job, I will certainly recommend to all my friends and family.

We visited recently and were pleased to see its as good as it always was. The food was a very high quality and the service really good. It's one of my favourite places to eat. They were serving bottled Mersea Island beers which was a nice touch. My only criticism was that the staff behind the bar were quite loud... More

I visited the old siege house this week. The place itself is beautiful. Very welcoming. The staff were brilliant, excellent service. And the food was amazing. It's a long drive from where I live so isn't somewhere I'll be able to visit regularly, but I wish I could. I would highly recommend the old siege house.

Had the absolute pleasure of eating here last night along with 16 colleagues. The food was just beautiful! I had the steak, it was cooked to perfection with proper chips! The Burgers look amazing, towered high with good quality meat! It's obvious they take a lot of pride in there food and use the best quality ingredients, also very reasonably... More

I took my mum for an early Mother's Day treat and we tried out The Old Siege House. When we walked in we straight away loved how welcoming the place felt and how lovely it had been decorated. We ordered off the set lunch menu and I can't believe what great value for money it was considering the high standard... More
