Great fish but expect a long wait

This place is unbelievably busy, no reservations are taken and you must be patient. One of our group was parking the car so they would not give us a table that was then available. He returned 20 minutes later and we were advised of a 3 hour wait! There is one cabinet of beautifully fresh fish on... read more

This quirky little seafood restaurant is so unusual it is like a breath of fresh air.The food is fabulous in its simplicity, cold seafood platters (more than enough for one person) and lots of interesting extras like Grilled oysters and crab cakes and scallops and grilled mussels and crevettes, so you can really have a little bit of everything in... We were a family group of three adults for a Friday lunch in July. Knowing the "no booking" rule, we arrived at 1145am and were given a 1230pm "table time". This worked and the service thereafter was friendly and very good. As described by others, the seafood is superb. One standard platter, at £15, would be enough for most but... More

I absolutely loved this little eatery, no frills, very basic and rustic but the sea food was exceptional, herb and salt grilled tiger prawns to start, beetroot gravadlax and the best smoked mackerel pate I have ever eaten, husband had the oysters which were perfect - will be taking some of that home for sure! Wine is sold on the... More

We arrived around 11.30 & only waited 20 minutes. Decor and setting is still rustic & basic , But the selection of fish ( not all local caught ) is fantastic. You can Bring your own wine , beer & bread. This place is always busy, lobster, scallops, oysters, spicy fresh fish cakes etc sell fast. We ate more than... More

my family visited this restaurant for a special occasion today and although food was lovely the chef Donna was so rude when we didn't receive one of the dishes we asked for it to be a taken off the bill and she was disgusting the way she dealt with the query. We have visited the shed a few times in... More

Myself and my partner had heard great things about the shed. We arrived at half twelve and booked a table. The next available one was two. So arrive early to get a table. The staff were friendly. I loved the decor. You take your own bread and drinks. Although there is a good selection of beers, wines and soft drinks... More

We try to visit every time we are in Essex and are never disappointed, unless it's because it's so busy that we can't get in. Today it was packed and with people waiting but we were able to get a time for a table later. After a walk in the sunshine we came back, our wine was in their fridge... More

Lovely fresh seafood. Unique experience. Had a bit of a wait for a table, but once order was taken the service was very quick. Don't forget to take your own bread.
