Food is always of a high standard. Very clean and a family favourite. Quite a limited menu but if you are a fan of fish this is ideal. Takeaway next door.

We are regular visitors to Whitby's at Catcliffe, the extensive menu offering starters, mains and desserts, the quality of the food is always the same whenever we go, and the staff are very attentive and have happy smiling faces, We normally have a booth, which is very cosy when you want to chat, Whitby's have a system in where they... I just want to say I've never been into the restaurant side, so I'm only talking about the chip shop. I had bad service here last year, but everyone kept saying how great it was, so Iz thought I'd give it another try. I was the only customer for the 10 staff to serve in the takeaway, only one of... Having visited a few times with my family, this last experience was the final straw. When our meals came and the two waiters bringing the food were in such a rush to declare what food they were holding, talking over each other and impatiently repeating the same thing while we worked out which meals went where, in the end we... Visited Whitby's with friends and family to celebrate my mother in laws birthday, based on one of her friends recommendations. Even though it is a very small chain, it already has developed its own style with good personal service in a fish and chip restaurant, similar to the Harry Ramsden chains before they got too impersonal. The fish and chips... More

Just fancied fish and chips before going to a gig on saturday night. My partner sugested we try this place which I had not heard about. Glad we did! The food was lovely and tasty. We both plumped for the Haddock option and had chips with peas and bread. It's good that the restaraunt do a gluten free batter option... More

After visiting this place when it first opened and giving them a glowing review, my wife and I visited on Friday to get something quick to eat and not too filling as it was about 2.30pm, too late for a big lunch and too early for dinner. From the take away I had a chip butty and my wife had... More

This is my second review on Whitbys my 1st being Cracking Chippie unfortunately standards have begun to slide. The fish is still very good hence the 3 stars given but the chips were terrible limp over cooked and they appeared to have been stood in the warming drawer for too long. We did complain and found that we were not... More

Clean, quick service, absolutely the best quality fish and chips we have ever tasted. They often have specials, and its quite nice that you can have a beer or glass of wine with your food. One tip - try to go other than at "peak" times as it gets very busy indeed, and if it does look too busy just... More
