I was treated to a birthday dinner at a restaurant of my choice and chose The Crown for its recently applied railway retro theme, but the food and wine were outstanding and made this one of the best evenings out I have ever enjoyed. The meat is locally-sourced - much from the proprietor's own farm - and all is prepared... More

I took my family to restaurant at the Crown to celebrate my sister's birthday. The first plus is that it has a car park, which is a big bonus because parking in Stamford town centre can be tricky. Secondly, it is a very child-friendly place and they did everything they could to accommodate our baby. It was a business Saturday... More

This hotel has recently had a bit of a makeover and has gone rather more rustic in decor with tin signs and old barrels etc. It is in the centre of town so very handy .They do a good cappuccino with a piece of lovely flapjack or scrummy cake BUT oh dear the service ! There seems to be members... More

Had a good night , New Years Eve ,music was just okay, food was excellent, one minor gripe!!! Thought we had a deal on the room with the tickets, then found out through the day and night, we had paid more for the room than lots of the people there!!! Had this about 2 years ago , booked 6 rooms... More

We have really enjoyed all the meals that we have had here. Whether when we were eight or more usually just the 2 of us. The menu is varied - always something you like, The service is excellent and unobtrusive. We keep going back.

Had a very late lunch/early supper (?) on a Saturday - not always the best time of the week to eat. Have to say the food was excellent, pastry superb. Staff very friendly if slightly inexperienced. Nice atmosphere and location. Have eaten here before although not recently but nevertheless did expect a good meal. Menu was good and varied, would... More

Came here for a Sunday roast. We were both disappointed with the food, I had the lamb and my husband had the beef. The roast potatoes looked nice and crispy on the outside but when we tried them they were really chewy and difficult to eat. They appeared as though they had been re-heated. The Yorkshire pudding had been over... More

We visited The Crown for dinner last night. I have been a lot over the years for dinner and the food has always been great and you could pretty much guarantee a quieter meal if you sat in the restaurant but not this time unfortunately. We took my parents out for dinner and it was my husbands first time in... More
