This 3 AA Rosette boutique hotel, run by a brother and sister team in Stamford, is the perfect setting for grand romantic gestures and luxe mini-breaks. Set in All Saints Place in the town's historic centre, The Crown Hotel boasts a superb restaurant divided into two separate dining areas plus a lounge, all eclectically decorated with an assortment of plush gunmetal grey carpets, kooky wallpaper, oak floorboards, crackling open fires and lilac-hued lighting. Head Chef Dan Kerringham has created a seasonal modern British menu and star dishes at The Crown Hotel include the Lincoln Red Pie made with beef braised in red wine with mushrooms; the roasted Gressingham duck with blackberry sauce; and the treacle tart with vanilla ice cream.

Decent food and service

Probably one of the better restaurants in Stamford for food quality and service. Menu is simple with enough variety of meats, chicken and fish. Service is very good, with warm friendly welcomes. Decoration a little odd, but apart from that decent place to eat.

This was by far the best roast ever. Home cooked excellent food and the service was exemplary I went with two friends one of whom had a dog. The dog did get a lot of attention !!!! We were not left out and received a first class service The setting has improved and it certainly feels like the Crown is... More

We came here after being ignored at The Cosy Club across the square...and a great find! Much bigger inside than it looks with a contemporary feel to the decor...a pleasant surprise! The staff were very friendly and attentive (a bit too much to be honest; they were all lovely to speak to, but we were offered drinks twice, two sets... More

I visited the Crown today, on a gloomy Sunday afternoon with two of my girlfriends, and my beloved dog, Henry. ALL staff were welcoming and could not do enough for our table, and particularly made a fuss of Henry, with him being firstly given a plate of biscuits, and then some left over roast beef! Our meal was faultless. The... More

We booked the Crown for our sons christening we were given a private room. The staff couldn't do enough for us from the initial booking to the actual date they were able to cater for everything. The food was fantastic and the drinks were reasonable. The cocktails were fantastic.

I've visited the Crown a number of time over the last 8 years whether it was for meeting friends for coffee, a quick bite to eat at lunch or indulging in a romantic dinner in the evening. The Crown has now had a refurbishment and I personally don't feel for the better. I met a friend this lunchtime and had,... More

I visited The Crown for lunch as I was back in Stamford for the day. While I was growing up in the area this venue was always somewhere that seemed to reflect the inhabitants of Stamford, it had a rather up anddown, higgledy- piggledy feel to it with a number of areas that guests can curl up in to feel... I have visited the Crown a number of times to eat, drink and to stay at the hotel. Popped in this week for a drink before going to the cinema to see how it had changed since being taken over by the Knead group. (They own Smiths in Bourne and we love that) what a shame. I guess shambolic design,... More
