Went for a big family dinner last night with friends and family who had all travelled distances to get there. Sadly the Exeter Arms did not impress. Simply, the food was poor and showed little or no imagination, small portions and high prices, service was appalling at times, some staff were very rude and we were left for considerable amounts... Unfortunately the quality of the food at this gastro pub has gone down and it doesn't represent value for money.

Cosy. I have visited here twice now and both times we were treated wonderfully. The food is good hearty pub grub with GLAMOUR. It's such a down to earth environment, I'm sure we'll go back again.

Last year we dined here two nights in a row with visitors from abroad, the food was excellent with service to match. We thought something was amiss when we noticed the restaurant was empty last night. The menu was very limited and uninspiring. We opted for main courses only and were all extremely disappointed with the quality of the food.

This place had come highly recommended but it was a huge dissapointment. Firstly, we were literally ignored by the staff. We were there about 15 minutes before we were even asked for a drinks order. We were then told the kitchen were too busy to take our food order so we had to wait for them to calm down. If... More

We enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Exeter Arms today. The food was excellent; wonderfully cooked, and a great range of dishes to choose from. I can thoroughly recommend the roast beef! We'll definitely be back.

It was a rare sunny October day, and we chose to eat outside in the beer garden, which was a little noisy as next to the main road. That was the only negative point of the meal! The service was efficient, friendly and prompt, the meal was lovely - one of the best Sunday lunches I have had (to date!).... More

Late booking and they accommodated us, which was good. We got there on-time and had to wait -5 mins to get seated. We have been there before, so knew from past experience that lunch/brunch is usually good. The starters were good, ham hock was excellent, with good homemade piccalilli, the main Sunday lunch felt disappointing, the roast potatoes were soggy,... More

All in all a good meal but, theres a but. Whilst all of the food was well prepared and presented I think the sauces lacked some oomph. I had the Pork with Cider and cream sauce. Not very creamy and no detectable taste of cider. The pork was also a little tough. The scotch egg starter with creamed leeks however... More
