We have eaten here on many occasions and brought many of our friends to meet Shanti and Goi and to enjoy the wonderful food and hospitality at the Amala. We were so sad when Shanti told us of its closure and wish him and Goi and their new son all the best for the future.

We went for the early bird menu. The food we had was delicious and we will definitely be going back to try food from the main menu. I had chicken satay to start and it was the best I have ever tasted. It just melted in my mouth. My partner had the pad Thai as his main and he said... More

Enjoyed wonderful starters and a lovely main course. Price was average but service was excellent, although they struggled with our tea total drinks order lol. I can recommend the food although the venue looks very similar to 1970s when it was a Chinese called the lotus. Still I will go again and I will enjoy it I'm sure !

I've lunched here twice recently on visits to the area, once with an old friend, and again on my own. This is a quite informal restaurant, which had us pondering what the business was in a previous existence. On my first visit both myself and my friend ordered a soup starter, mine the Buddha tofu with seasonal greens, my friend... More

All the starters were good but unfortunately that's where it ended, all the main courses with the exception of a Thai red curry were poor in the extreme ,sorry won't be back .

Second visit in a week, and both were exceptionally good visits. Good food, relaxed atmosphere, unlike the experiences when this venue was the Lotus, Chinese restaurant. Excellent value for money, and the hosts were prepared to amend their great early bird menu, on certain choices, when asked . Highly recommended!

My wife and I are regulars at the Amala. We have never had a bad meal since it opened. We enjoy it because the food is great and well presented. The staff are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Easily the best Thai in Wakefield for an all inclusive experience.
