Another tea time pint

I like a pint of hand-pulled bitter, as I've said before, so recently have called into the British Oak a couple of times. It's a very traditional pub with several beers on the and a deserved reputation for good food. The first time we called in for an impromptu beer and a meal, the landlord... read more

Need to book as restaurant quite small (and deservedly popular). Food excellent particularly Tuna steaks. Service prompt without being pushy.

A party of seven of us went for dinner, was very busy, staff very friendly gave us plenty of time to look through the menu, had a couple of fussy eaters with us but everything was as ordered, food was lovely , large portions too, very reasonable prices, will be going again .

First of all, always book!! This is a pub with restaurant. Constantly good home cooked food. We have never had a problem in all the years we have been going. Loads of choices , lovely chips, lovely everything! I recommend

Decided to pop by the British oak as we haven't been in ages. Despite not booking we only had a short wait for a table Husband had a mixed grill and I opted for the 3 course Sunday lunch menu 14.95, food was lovely and plentiful. Staff as usual were courteous and professional. Will be visiting again in the future... More

We have avoided the British Oak for a number of months due to the place becoming shabby and needing some urgent cleaning. The Staff are all still excellent and friendly especially Andrew, but the decor and the furniture is getting so ropey and tatty. One guy was sitting on a dining chair and all the lining along the bottom was... More

We were staying nearby on a family visit. We called for lunch on a recommendation and were not disappointed. We had not booked and a very pleasant waiter found us a table immediately. We only wanted sandwiches and chips but the beef baguette with onions and gravy was superb and the real home made chips were excellent. Looking round at... More

Visited on a cold, damp afternoon on a Tuesday and found the car park full - the sign of a successful pub - even though we were a little late for the peak lunchtime. Luckily we were found a table. I had only popped in for a tasty pie and chips but the specials board had 16oz T-bone steaks on... More

We have visited the British Oak a few times before and must say the quality of food is of an amazing standard for a pub restaurant. If anything on this latest visit it was even better. The staff are efficient, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is always a cheery welcome from the management and a well stocked... More
