I went here with colleagues after a course. As there were international delegates, the course organisers were trying to impress, so this place was the obvious choice. It's set on a ship in the best area of Ipswich, it's revamped mariner. The setting, being on a boat, is charming, and the staff are well trained and well mannered. The food... More

My sister booked this venue for my wedding meal and when she said it was on a boat at the marina I was a little concerned. I need not have been. The service, atmosphere, quality of the food and presentation was excellent and we had brilliant lunchtime. We asked for teas and coffee after the meal and they were happy... More

A floating restaurant - this boat is about 100 years old and it was like sitting in what I imagine the Orient Express to be like - something out of Miss Marple. The food and wine were absolutely delicious, though the portions were quite small and the vegetables served with the dishes were scant and slightly overcooked (and not mentioned... More

The restaurant handled the Christmas lunch for our team of 66 people very well. The food and service were both excellent and the ambience was just right to get us in the mood for Christmas. We will definitely be returning!

Service slow between starter and main course (a waiter was aware of this, due to his comment!). Another waiter advised that a further item would be brought to our table, but it never arrived. NO REPLY RECEIVED TO EMAILS I SENT ON 7TH AND 23RD DECEMBER (ON THIS FACT ALONE, I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT). Overall an expensive and... More

If you are not good on water then I suggest you do not step aboard this restaurant. We were on here in December and believe me I you can feel it moving even though it is stationary in the Ipswich docks. The service when we first boarded was okay, our jackets and coats were taken from us and hung up.... More

Recently went for a work Christmas party. Excellent service, excellent food, nice wine in a unique & quirky setting. The French know how to do great food & service, The Mariners us no exception. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant, would highly recommend - one of the best in Ipswich by far.

It has been a couple of years since my wife and I dined at the Mariners Restaurant, formerly known as Il Punto. Now a french Brasserie, it is delightful. Set on a former Belgian gunboat called the Argus, which has a delightful history,, we could, once again, not find any fault. The Manager is charm personified without being over the... More

belated review, visited September, down stairs thought it would be muggy as warm evening but OK, had French brasserie fixed price menu at £29.00 for three courses. Highlights, mussels for starter, both mains (steak and ?), and brule for pud. Excellent value house wine in a carafe. very friendly french staff. Worth the visit.
