The twinkling lights over the waterside set the scene for a wonderful welcome into Mariners. The environs are sublime - for those with a love of everything nautical, this is the place for you - a white washed wooden ceiling, and dark wood floors surrounded by shining ships brasses. The conversion into a restaurant has been well executed and despite... More

We visited here for a dual birthday celebration and had a age range from 15 to 80 and everyone was so pleased with the venue and the food. This was booked on recommendation and none of us had visited previously. The restaurant is very french with the whole staff being french and the food would not have been out of... More

Recently my wife and I spent a few days in Ipswich. Two of the evenings were spent, very enjoyably, at the Mariners Restaurant. The most obvious difference between this and the vast majority of other restaurants is that it's located on a boat. Apparently originally built as a gunboat, it is now very peacefully tied up at one of the... More

This floating restaurant is based on an old Belgian customs boat moored in the Marina, almost in front of Customs House. The interior resembles the atmosphere of an old cruise ship's restaurant. The restaurant is run by a mostly French crew. The menu and food quality is therefore very French. High quality, tasteful and nicely presented. The atmosphere is not... More

The outside of the Mariner restaurant which is an old gun boat, looks rather tired and run down, but the inside was lovely. Menu choice was good both set meals and a la carte available. The food was delicious. The little scallops were Devine and the roast chicken was superb. My husband had the carrot soup followed by the pork... More

Our second visit to the mariners and as we travel three hours to watch the football we make the visit worthwhile as the football generally disappoints. The food is the best I've eaten the venue is pretty but a tad too cosy, that's the reason I've not 5 starred it. Too picky possibly. The staff very are very professional and polite.... More
