Great gluten free options

It's always nice to go somewhere with a good variety of gluten free options, and The Brook Inn has many. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. I wouldn't say that the food was amazing, but as I said, as someone who can't eat gluten it is refreshing to be given a choice.

I was looking for a place to go that would be suitable for a family lunch during a day out. My search difficulties were compounded by the requirements that the pub caters to gluten free customers and allow dogs in the bar as 2 of ours would be coming on our day out with us. After a bit of searching,... More

Hello there and thanks for taking the trouble to write about the Brook Inn. We're always pleased to hear from diners who've enjoyed their visit to the pub...including dogs! Our chefs have invested a lot of time devising GF dishes and the environment they're cooked in so we're always grateful for the recognition. Indeed we're about to be accredited with... More

Brook Inn was recommended to me by word of mouth as a place that specialises in gluten free food. I have a wheat intolerance and it's rare to find a menu with such an array of food I can eat. The food was so flavoursome and even the non gluten free people in my party raved over the food. We... More

Thank you very much for your comments. I think what a lot of people like me - as a 'non GF diner' - find surprising is that I don't notice the GF labelling when I'm eating the tasty food, but to GF people it's all-important. It must be frustrating going to restaurants with bland token dishes...so glad you discovered us... More

Visited this pub for lunch with a friend as we were in the vicinity. The place is characterless, the staff unwelcoming and the drinking glasses filthy, and I do mean seriously dirty. When I pointed this out, politely to the waitress, she said it was how they came out the dishwasher and walked off. The food is passable but not... More

Hello Dumpling and thanks for taking the trouble for writing about your poor experience at the Brook Inn. Firstly I'd like to apologise for the poor state of your glasses and the unsatisfactory reply from your waitress. We've had problems with our glass-washer since we changed the water system during our refurbishment in January and evidently that is still not... More

Great place for food - fantastic chef serving excellent meals. We had steak pies, fish & chips, and children's meals of Jacket pots/sandwiches. Recently refurbished this community pub is worth supporting.

Having phoned this pub around 11.00 am on Sunday 31st Jan for a table reservation I was informed the earliest we could have a table was 2.00pm. This reservation was made having seen excellent reviews on line regarding they cater for COELIACS. As you can imagine I was rather anxious especially as I have had many a disaster in local... More

We went there on Saturday night and it was a great meal. My husband cannot eat Gluten and there was a good selection of gluten free options. The food was lovely and so were the staff. The decor is a little basic but the staff and food more than make up for this. Really good!

Hi Chris - I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to the Brook Inn and please do come again soon. On the decor...we recently completed a £30,000 refit of the pub which involved a lot of de-cluttering. Perhaps we went a bit too far! Over time we'll add more decoration, slowly and surely in the best Suffolk traditions. Cheers. More

Not having been here for a couple of years, we decided to pop in on the spur of the moment kind of thing. What a pleasant surprise. Maybe it was because it was a lunch time they didn't have a vast menu, however there was enough to choose from for us to stay and very enjoyable it was too. I... More

We visited on a very busy evening, that's aid and done, once we had found our reserved table the service was excellent and the staff knowledgeable . Do check the specials board as well as the main menu. As stated by others there are plenty of gluten free meals, which is an added bonus. The drinks are reasonably priced as... More

A group of ten of us had a great Christmas meal at the Brook. The menu was varied and of excellent quality and good sized portions. Service was great and bottles of wine reasonably priced. Definitely worth another visit again soon.
