Dinner and quiz night!

We'd been away and were suffering with jet lag but had agreed to meet friends at The Greyhound for dinner and the quiz night. We almost didn't go but decided that we really should. Dinner was good, we all had food off the specials menu and were not disappointed at all. The Thai red curry was... read more

A few minutes walk from the town centre is The Greyhound and it is well worth a visit. It's a traditional Suffolk style pub serving Adnams in very good nick and top notch gastro pub style food. Sunday is quiz night and the place was packed; the service was lamentably slow but the young front of house team were very... More

Superb pub! The Greyhound has a great reputation locally which it well deserves. This place has a lovely laid back atmosphere with attentive and knowledgable staff. We had a wonderful meal - Sunday roast with all the trimmings and plenty of veg. Most importantly the roast beef was cooked to perfection, beautifully rare and melted in your mouth. Puddings were... From the outside this is a pub! You may not venture in unless you were a local or had been recommended- we were the latter! There is a clear local customer base who are enjoying drinks and usual pub banter, inoffensive and adds to the hubbub and atmosphere. As well as good beer and wine (Adnams), the menu is more... We have eaten here a few times and NEVER been let down. Recently we arrived for the Sunday morning breakfast and that was super as well. I love this pub.You pay a little more but I really don't care, the food quality is as consistently high as the service.

Today we visited The Greyhound for a birthday lunch. From the moment we arrived it can only be described as an absolute delight. Each of the party selected different menu choices - one asking for a variation from the menu which was accommodated no problem. All food came to the table at once and was hot. Every dish was well... I organised the after funeral food and drink at this our favourite pub, food was good and staff came in to open especially for us between lunch and evening whilst prepping for the evening. As always the staff were helpful and efficient. Big thank you.

Went today for an after funeral do, if it was my pub, i would have had the kitchen door shut, the floor was filthy with bits of food on the floor, so sad as the staff were great.

A great place, one of the positives of Ipswich. It's fairly classy and traditional to me, which is the main image they obviously try to promote. It's located well, being in the more northernly part of town, which is a great credit if you know the town. With quality comes cost, however, and the clientele it attracts are catered for... More

Whenever I visit my sister, who lives in Ipswich, I always manage to have dinner at least two times at the grey Hound Pub. My sister is a vegetarian and there are several meals on the menu that she enjoys wholeheartedly. On the other hand, obviously I am not a vegetarian, my most favorite meal is Sunday's roast beef dinner... More
