We entered this pub, dripping from a long, wet and windy walk along a South Downs ridge, and what a pleasant destination this proved to be - a true hostelry located in the time warp that is Berwick Village. We tucked into pints of beautiful, hoppy Harvey's Best Bitter of perfect, crystal clarity - as others have mentioned, it's drawn... More

Visited here with a relative from Canada. She was keen to sample an English roast dinner. Unfortunately this was not on the menu. The menu states 'traditional' pub. Therefore one would expect a roast, especially on a Sunday. There was a lack of vegetables too. I asked a member of staff who said they only serve roasts in the Winter.... More

We visit this pub a lot especially to enjoy a fine pint of Harveys Best Bitter straight from the barrel. We often end up eating as there is always something to tempt us from the traditional pub menu or the 'specials board'. Never disappointed but this is not fine dining but traditional pub grub at its best! There is a... More

If you can brave this stretch of the dangerous and busy A27 it could be worth your journey. This little hostelry is tucked away in a country lane and has a garden with views of the downs to the east. Lots of outdoor seating for the enjoyment of a sunny day, and sensibly placed tables to retain garden character. Plenty... More

It was my partner's birthday so we decided to go to the Cricketers because of it's beautiful setting and the fact that we have enjoyed it when we have been here before. We were not disappointed! We arrived pretty hungry, the starter came promptly. We had Smoked Salmon, which was delicious as was the fresh granary bread and salad that... More

On holiday and saw the good reviews so decided to eat here on our last night. We had 2 crab salads with chips and the caramelised onion tart salad. Food was fresh and well prepared and presented. It also tasted great! Good friendly service and food arrived in a decent time! The pub was fairly quiet a few more people... More

Have visited the Cricketers on and off for the last fifteen years at least. It's close to the downs and makes a good spot for a walk on the downs or to visit the local church. Its a Harveys pub and the beer is always excellent and they also sell "guest" beers. On a sunny summers day or evening it... More

We have just arrived home after having a lovely long lunch sitting in the garden of this very English pub. One of our party of six has to follow a gluten free diet and had a choice of seven dishes. Wow! The food was wholesome and served piping hot. Coffee was good too. Will definitely go back again.

Charming pub with an attractive garden, we'd only intended to stop for a drink while on a walk but the presence of duck with apricot sauce on the specials board for £14 swayed daveysdad into having an early lunch. The duck beast was large though not with crispy skin and came with sauté potatoes and broccoli while for the same... More

Lovely county pub, excellent pub grub and a good selection of real ale. I tried their homemade red pepper hummus it came with fresh salad and warm pitta bread yummy. I also tried a mouthful of homemade vegetable pie and some of my partners meat platter, all very good. Friendly Staff and cleanliness add to the charm of this pub.... More
