Lovely pub and overgrown garden

We were staying in Berwick and had been for a walk ending at the lovely church in Berwick. We had decided to eat at the Cricketer's Arms and we were not disappointed. Visited The Cricketers Arms for the first time last Monday and it certainly won't be the last time. We ate in the garden as the weather was beautiful. Lovely location for a leisurely meal. The garden was full of birdsong and the scent from the nearby honeysuckle was amazing. The food was delicious and the servings very generous for a... More

We have been to this pub a number of times because of its lovely garden and good food at a reasonable price. Unfortunately our last visit was not so great. Still a lovely garden especially the weather that day but the food was a big let down. Firstly one of my reasons for liking this pub was the local sausages,... More

Had a family meal here on Saturday. It is a lovely pub in a great location, the views are superb and the garden is great. The inside is spotless and the staff are very friendly. My wife ordered a Ciabatta which was very good, however my kids and I ordered Scampi. I am afraid to say that for £13 (adult... More

Having lived in Eastbourne for over 50 years, I took my elderly mother for lunch today at The Cricketers Arms. She absolutely loved it :)) the menu was well thought of and the dishes were plentiful. My mother chose a starter to eat as her main course, this was most adequate for lunch for a lady of her age. Everything... More

Everything was going ok. Pub looks nice. Good garden space. Good food..... But to try and keep costs down I bought myself and my daughter black current cordial........ £5.00 for two cordials is a joke! I'm a bar maid and we charge 60p for a dash of cordial!!! I walked off and refused to pay it. You can buy 6... More

I am very sorry that you were charged an incorrect price for your cordial. The prices are marked on the till with the product and you should have been charged 60p per shot so cannot understand where the £2.50 per glass was charged. We do sell homemade elderflower so maybe the staff in question tapped the wrong key. We wholeheartedly... More

We've been coming to this pub for years, for many reasons. The location is very good, close to the A27 but it's hardly audible. Beautiful surroundings with a really nice garden. Food is always well above average and the beer Harvey's of course is probably the best kept pint for miles around, courtesy no doubt of the tap room. Yesterday... More

We stumbled on this superb pub yesterday evening just off the A27 between Polegate & Eastbourne after a tedious journey in traffic. The setting & the Pub are delightful, hardly hear the A27 and the food truly scrumptious. We both had the hand carved ham, egg & chips. The Ham was succulent, the chips crispy & fluffy and suspect free... More

This picturesque pub serves well kept Harvey's and has an interesting menu that changes frequently. On a sunny Sunday we enjoyed sitting in the pretty garden and had a lovely lunch - smoked fish platter and chicken and chorizo salad with a bowl of excellent chips. We were impressed with the well organised service as it was very busy.
