After fifteen minutes our simple order of tea, beer and iced coffee had not materialized. We asked our waiter if the order was coming and in his couldn't careless surly voice assured us that it was. Five minutes later still no drinks and when we asked again and pointed out that people who sat down after us had been served... More

A group of friends who hadn't seen each other for many years met up for lunch - and the staff in the restaurant joined in the atmosphere of the fun we were having. Our lovely bartender Isabelle looked after our every need, joined in the laughs, and made it a really enjoyable time for us. Needless to say, we all... More

I was looking forward to going here as the outside is very inviting and the menu comprehensive. I took a Belgian there for his birthday. But this quite singularly failed to the promise of the menu o the exterior. We were shown to a table which was quite frankly sticky; there were menus completely adhered to the table which we... More

Very poor. Food was nothing like the menu stated. Mussels were cooked in milk, the fish platter was mostly deep fried fish and the service was not up to scratch. However the pianist was good although a little repetitive

My daughter wanted to celebrate her 18th Birthday with her family locally and she selected The Belgian Cafe to do so. My wife and I pre-booked a table and provided our list of requirements, none of which was any trouble or inconvenience. Upon our arrival, we were shown to our seating area and we had been allocated our own section... More

We missed visiting the Belgian Café on a December holiday so I was determined to get there in June. Unfortunately it did not live up to reviews that I had seen previously. Having been to Belgium numerous times ( and being a mussel fan) , what we received were what the Belgians call "French mussels" small, anemic, tasteless shellfish. While... More

I do like mussels but , these days, the menu at the corner restaurant overlooking the sea, offers not only a longer, more interesting menu but still retains that excellent delight of the people of Brussels in a variety of sauces. My muscles were plump, fresh , hot and cooked in the most traditional of sauces. Glass of wine, full and... More

This café was recommended by another restaurant, on entry it was clean and had a little atmosphere. Ordering for the two of us two side orders to share as we would be eating later. The ordering of such 1 x Whitebait & 1 x Garlic Mushroom with Garlic bread and as we were sharing can we have two plates please,... More

My husband had the roast pork belly, which I expect to be a bit fatty, but there was more fat than meat - horrible. I had a jacket potato with pulled pork. The potato as OK to be fair (you can't really go too wrong there, can you?) but the pulled pork was dry and nothing to write home about.... More

We stopped here because my wife had yearning for whitebait and it was on the menu. As it transpired it was not the whitebait we remembered which was tiny fish dusted in seasoned flour and deep fried these were much larger and each little fish was coated in a sort of breadcrumb stuff I have come across this before and...
