Great beer

We had a night away in Eastbourne a few weeks ago, our hotel was on the front and while out walking we came across the Belgian cafe. What attracted us in was the vast selectio of beers on offer, after having a couple of their own brew pints we were offered the lounge down stairs to watch the rugby... read more

Either we just caught them on a bad day, or all the other reviewers were high! Ok, it was 4pm on a Monday, so I'll try and cut them some slack for that, but... The scallops were undercooked and gritty. The spatzel were greasy. The Pulled Pork Burger wasn't. It's slimy pulled pork with chunks of tart apple in a... More

Visited this restaurant with a group of 6. Waited an hour after ordering before we finally got our meals, with a side dish missing. Half of the dishes were OK and half were not very good.

We decided to have dinner, in this cafe, because everything else was packed, and we weren't disappointed. The service was immaculate. We were greeted by one of the waiters (Stephan) and shown to our tables. The service he provided, was very good. Always offering us different kinds of beer, and asking is everything is okay with our food. So we... More

The speciality is without question the moules. The home brewed and extensive beers too. The service and non specialised food should have been better, pork belly tough.. Sorry but could and should have been better. Such a shame because bags of potential here and please ensure the staff remember orders v. Table nos..

Great menu, professional service and a funky vibe. All in all a great experience. Mussels are the house speciality, but there are loads of other choices for fish and seafood lovers. Our five year old son was made very welcome too.

We have visited this restaurant many times and on a Friday night its usually quite fun with good music, ambience in a busy restaurant and great food. The service is always consistently good but the food wasn't great this time. We haven't been there for some months and this time our choices lacked flavour, heat - my grilled mussels were... More

We stopped off here to get out of the rain and I'm delighted we did: the moules mariniere were delicious as was the Croque Monsieur. Relaxed surroundings and good service. Would recommend.

I'd been to the Cafe Belge (as it used to be called on my previous visit) before and it was really good. Its always been renowned for serving Moules Frites - a traditionally belgian meal of mussels and chips with the mussels cooked in your choice of about 50 different ways. Bearing in mind the belgians are famous for their... More

It was a real treat to find a place with a menu so different from what I would normally encounter. Oysters to start and Scallops with Spatzle to follow, both delicious and excellent value. My partner also chose from the special 'Scallop Festival' menu - Carpaccio no less. A fantastic range of beers too, including their own brew.
