Delightful!

Neates is the best place to visit in Eastbourne if you want a great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing cakes, especially the rock cakes. It's very popular, so you may have to reserve a table at busy times. But even if you don't, you won't have to wait too long. You will want to visit again and again.

What more can I say? Friendly service in cosy surroundings. Fantastic cakes and reasonably priced. We had a delicious cream tea, lemon roulade and Victoria sponge cupcake topped with cream, raspberries and blueberries. Beautiful. We gobbled it all up before we thought of taking photos! Definitely a winner for me!

Neates is a pretty little place which serves the best cream tea in town. I would love the recipe for their delightfully light scones! The staff are friendly and the welcome is genuine. A treasure.

Fabulous! Stopped here at lunchtime today for coffee and a cake, special was a roast beef sandwich with onions and horseradish mayo, opted for this great choice. We had a lovely lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. If down here again we will definatly drop in again and try the amazing looking cakes.

Excellent tea shop to drop by for a relaxing half an hour away from the Eastbourne centre hub-bub. Tea/Coffee with a almond croissant was £3:95, which is not much more than you would pay in places like TJ Hughes canteen or other eateries which don’t have the charm of Neates. I got three large cups of tea out of my... More

How refreshing to be served a mid afternoon snack with lashes of friendliness. We couldn't decide but the lady attending our table had so much enthusiasm about the food on offer that it took less than a minute to choose. Food was just as described and Aznavour was singing in the background, so couldn't beat the experience on a damp... More

The worst part of neates is trying to choose which cake to eat (I usually get my friends to order something different from me so I can eat some of theirs too!) I think I've pretty much tried all their cakes now and I'm never disappointed. It's worth adding that they are all made freshly by one of the sisters... More

We were in Eastbourne for a couple of days and had searched the Internet for a cream tea locally. This coffee shop had great reviews and having visited I have to totally concur. The cream tea was the best we have ever had in the UK ( and we have had a few 😃) Friendly service and well priced. Would... More
