Some colleagues had a dinner here. The atmosphere is excellent with a lot of historic decorations and fire at the fireplace. I tried the gratinated Bacalao which was ok. A huge portion of classic Bacalao which was gratinated. I prefer the Bacalao some more spicy and when the potatoes are tender (the potatoes was a little bit crispy). Traditional norwegian... More

Have visited Smia (The Smithy) a number of times, usually with family or vsitors from abroad. This time we introduced friends from Delaware to whale meat, anf they enjoyed it. It is in an old wooden building with a rustic interior, a bit museum-like as it contains old photos and items from the fishing industry. The service was good and... More

Good klippfisk. A litle bit to salty but excelent consistence. Prices normal high. Lot of space for carparking.

First of all, Smia was the only fish restaurant that was open in the town, at 9:30pm. The food is quite satisfactory, though a bit too expensive. Not recommended for savers. 3.5 out of 5 is, to my opinion, the adequate score for Smia.

The spicy prawns to start were really very flavoursome - shame there were only four small ones. The bacalao, and fish balls with bacon and sausage, were good enough - the portion size was right. The waiter was a little frosty to begin with but seemed to take to us as the afternoon progressed. We happened upon the restaurant, we... More

What with Kristiansund being a coastal town, the idea of a restaurant specialising in all the goodies from the sea is a sound one. Sadly, Smia doesn't deliver. Food items seemed to be either over- or undercooked, the wait was too long, and some of the orders were messed up so that people got the wrong food when it finally... More

We came to this place as many times before but this time we were really disappointed. We tried the lutefisk as we always do before christmas however it was a Big disappointment. Even now we are still talking about that meal as we have never seen anything alike.

We came here after having read the good critique in the “Lonely Planet” (2011 Edition), but were disappointed. When we arrived around 8.30 p.m., the door was closed, although the restaurant was supposed to be open until midnight and that that were guests inside eating. We had to knock before the waiter finally opened the door. As we wanted to... More
