Ode to Bacalao - iconic Aselund

This is a celebration of the Alasund history of salt cod in it's many different versions - There is also a fresh fish platter, fresh cod with chorizo, a pepper steak and a deer plate. We celebrated here my wife's Birthday with our two kids. We enjoyed the delicious food and the staff was very friendly to our two small children (4 and 2), so we all felt comfortable even though the restaurant is not really made for families. We had the fish plate and a bacalao dish and we were really happy with it!

I've always looked forward to eating here, when in Ålesund. Sorry to experience a microwaved bacalao Italian style. Very hot on the outside, luke warm inside. The fish itself tasted well, althoug overcooked. Bacon was tasteless, while the sour cream "aioli" never had seen a garlic. Big dissapointment to have to agree with my wife who had the same experience... More

Yes they are serious about fish, in particular bacalao. Service was a bit either new or inexperienced, need improvent. Food was very well presented, and super well prepared, bacalao klassic was fantastic, it really had all tastes. Definitely a must.

If you enjoy fish you have to visit. Seriously good food, excellent service and a great view. The fish soup and fish dishes were fantastic.

When in Ålesund you need to have a taste of Bacalao. The XL Diner is a great place for Bacalao, with a nice view to the old city. You may choose from a range of Bacalaos, but I recommend the Bacalao Royal which offer a mix of Bacalao types (Parma, Nata y Vizcaina. Enjoy!

While the name of the restaurant might not be the most appealing, I have to say it was one of the best places where I had dinner while in Norway. The location is good, the place is pretty neat and the staff was very helpful. The food was nothing short of great. I am not a big fan of Cod... More

located in the heart of the city, with beautiful views to Brosundet fjord that parts two islands in downtown. Restaurant offers tasty norvegian dishes with meat (also interestind wild meat) and fish (most famous - Bacalao with tradition klip-fisk- solted and dryed Cod). But this restaurant offer only dinners, wich is not convenient on the summer for tourists, when is... More

the restaurant has a wonderful view of the harbor and beyond. the food was outstanding. i really liked the 'chef's dessert' idea (they don't tell you what is on it, just let the chef end your evening amazingly). the staff are very friendly as well. the place was full when i arrived so had to wait 45 mins, but they... Great food and atmoshere. The fish was excellent. Try the local fish and pair it with a nice wine. The view of the harbor is good too. Ask for a table by the window..
