Description: The name "Naboen" means neighbor, and this is just what the Naboen Pub & Restaurant is, a friendly and inviting place to eat and drink. Hospitality is job one here, and the Scandinavian kitchen, staff and culinary tradition are representative of Norway. The food is all made from scratch, as it would have been two hundred years ago - no processed ingredients allowed. Naboens' menu is a culinary delight, one heaped in Nordic tradition, and best of all moderately priced. Guests here partake of Norwegian food and spirits as they should be enjoyed, Bergen style.

The restaurant upstairs looks stylish and expensive (which it is but not overly as Norway goes) but if you go down the stairs there a dark and cosy bar and restaurant which is less intimidating and offers cheaper meals. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent as was the beer. It was very busy so be... More

We ate/drank at the bar downstairs since we aren't very fancy. Decent beer selection with Norwegian options. Barkeep was very friendly and we got our food fast. We had the Swedish meatballs--yum--and an open-faced grilled cheese which was delicious. The place was busy but the kitchen and staff had no problem keeping up. All-in-all, a very professional place and I'd... More

Naboen has great food. I have been there 2 times. They have fantastic desserts as well. And a nice atmosphere. It can get a bit noisy in there. But I will still recommend it. You have to try it if you are in Bergen!

We had one of our best dinners ever at Naboen. The asparagus soup was outstanding, the trout and salmon entrees were wonderful. The service was excellent, the wine list extensive, and the atmosphere was relaxed but classy. Naboen is not inexpensive, but well worth the price. You need reservations.

I thought I'd try Naboen after reviewing tripadviser, and glad I did. The main restaurant was quite busy and more formal than i was after. The bar downstairs was cosy and casual. Bar staff were friendly and helpful, recommending the salmon in mustard sauce. A great choice - simple but delicious. Well worth hunting this place down

Despite the restaurant decoration which is rather plain and not very welcoming, the food was tasty and the staff extremely pleasant.

We had the local wolf fish and cod, which were delicious, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The service was superb. There is also a great bar underneath the restaurant which was fantastic for a pre dinner drink (or prink!)

For a great experience, and reasonably priced meal, go directly downstairs and eat in the bar/pub. They have a number of great dinner items on the menu that are prepared in the kitchen of the more pricey restaurant upstairs. You will not get table service down in the bar. You order at the bar and the person tending bar then... More

There are two parts to Naboen. The slightly more expensive restaurant upstairs and the pub/bar downstairs. We ate in the latter which is simple and cosy. There's a straightforward pub grub menu with about 8 mains and (for Norway) the food was reasonably priced. I had mackerel and it was nicely cooked and good pub grub food. The bar was... More
