The name "Naboen" means neighbor, and this is just what the Naboen Pub & Restaurant is, a friendly and inviting place to eat and drink. Hospitality is job one here, and the Scandinavian kitchen, staff and culinary tradition are representative of Norway. Quality food

Quality restaurant and recommended if in the neighborhood even if it may be funny to go for something that has a Swedish tone while in Norway. We had the Swedish roe that were very very good and I enjoyed the Norwegian dear meat. Wouldn't have gone there if not for a tip from a friend of a college... read more

The dark pub below has a very good selection of Norwegian beers and good pub food. I ordered the Swedish meatballs and enjoyed them.

So delicious! The interior of this restaurant doesn't have any real charm, but the food is really, really good. I ordered the deer in brown cheese sauce with a wine and juniper berry-poached pear. It was truly one of the best dinners I've had anywhere in the world (I also love Norwegian brown cheese). On a weekend night, you'll likely... More

We got in Sunday night and were desperately looking for a restaurant that was open. Most close on Sundays and only a selection of Asian food restaurants were open. When we found this place the whole group was excited to try local cuisine. Very nice restaurant with a good selection of both seafood and meat options. Each of us got... More

I had a lovely dinner with friends here. We were visiting from the U.S. and had arrived in Bergen on a Sunday night, finding that most of the restaurants close early on Sundays. Fortunately we discovered that Naboen is open late on Sundays, so we headed over from our hotel. We didn't have to wait at all for a table,... More

This review is for the cellar; "Nabokjelleren". I have been here many times, the food is always good, especially if you considerate the low prices, they got a large selection of norwegian microbrews and the staff is always friendly and helpfull. I got the homemade fish and chips last time I was there and it did not disappoint, the tartar... More

Attracted by the Swedish menu, which wetted the appetite and seemed incredibly cheap by Bergen standards. Even the full price menu was not as expensive as some we've seen. Had the Swedish meatballs and beef and ale stew. Both served with mash and vegetables. Both circa 143 NOK each (£11.80). Both delicious. Veg was slightly crunchy, just how we like... More

Had dinner by myself here in the downstairs area. As others have said, upstairs is a bit nicer, but downstairs is cozy and and has the same menu. I had steak, which was pretty good. For me, the highlight was the beer. Good selection, with lots of variety. For a no frills quality meal, head to the basement of Naboen.

It is a really good place with local Scandinavian cuisine! I've had an excellent meal and pleasant evening at this place. My choice was traditional Norwegian salmon and even though it's very simple dish and I've had it thousand of times - it was one of the best fish dish I've had. It was very tender, fresh and juicy, served... More
