Description: The name "Naboen" means neighbor, and this is just what the Naboen Pub & Restaurant is, a friendly and inviting place to eat and drink. Hospitality is job one here, and the Scandinavian kitchen, staff and culinary tradition are representative of Norway. The food is all made from scratch, as it would have been two hundred years ago - no processed ingredients allowed. Naboens' menu is a culinary delight, one heaped in Nordic tradition, and best of all moderately priced. Guests here partake of Norwegian food and spirits as they should be enjoyed, Bergen style.

We had the local wolf fish and cod, which were delicious, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The service was superb. There is also a great bar underneath the restaurant which was fantastic for a pre dinner drink (or prink!)

For a great experience, and reasonably priced meal, go directly downstairs and eat in the bar/pub. They have a number of great dinner items on the menu that are prepared in the kitchen of the more pricey restaurant upstairs. You will not get table service down in the bar. You order at the bar and the person tending bar then... More

There are two parts to Naboen. The slightly more expensive restaurant upstairs and the pub/bar downstairs. We ate in the latter which is simple and cosy. There's a straightforward pub grub menu with about 8 mains and (for Norway) the food was reasonably priced. I had mackerel and it was nicely cooked and good pub grub food. The bar was... More

I've been to this restaurant several times, and its divided into two parts, the upper one, which is a bit more pricy and the basement where its a bit cheaper and more cosy. Both serve great food, and the basement definetly have one of bergens best burgers. They also serve traditional sweedish dishes, and have a great selection of local... More

In this restaurant you can find traditional Scandinavian food, with very good fish, at reasonable prices. The quality is good and the place very functional. But try to make a reservation in advance since normally is full, specially during weekends.

We didn't necessarily find fault with our meal here but can't remember much about what we ate less than a week later. In other words, the food was good but not extraordinary. The waiter was a bit stingy with his attention and not all that friendly. We learned as we were leaving that there is more of a pub-style restaurant... More

I have been to Naboen on many occations and I have reviewed it once before, a while back. During the last couple of weeks, my girlfriend and I have been dining there twice. On both occacions we had the steak with fries (not the "plankstek" with duchesse potatoes) and the food was near perfect. The meat could have been a... More

We walked into this restaurant at 8:00 on a Sunday evening without a reservation, but were able to be seated immediately in the ground level dining room. Got crowded as the evening went on, but service was consistently prompt. Broad menu selections and nice wine list including many half-bottles. Lots of creative appetizers and the house salad was the best... More

If you're in Norway you know alcoholic beverages are not cheap. However, this place is fairly reasonably priced and has an amazing selection of Norwegian craft beer. We sat at the bar in the basement and had their "cannibal" sandwich with chips (fries). Best chips I have ever ever ever had! Seriously friendly bar staff and nice overall atmosphere. My... More

We visited this restaurant and it was fully booked and so they suggested the basement bar. The food comes from the same kitchen, although is a different menu, quite a bit cheaper yet still delicious and good sized portions. Would definitely recommend it!
