Nicely done food at fair price with excellent service

We spent 3 weeks in Norway so we are used to the pricing and felt this was good value for good quality food and excellent service. Norway is not cheap but the seafood and fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Their wine list was fairly priced for Norway (choice between 400-600). Also, the... read more

Wonderful seafood, service and atmosphere right in an ancient group of buildings right at the main harbor. It's bit of a splurge though. Three courses and good wine set us back $110 a head.

Best fish soup I've had in Scandinavia! Piping hot and totally delicious!! Also had the most amazing brown cheese ice-cream, one & only in Norway!

It was good to try traditional Norwegian food. Nice old place and very busy. Lots of fish dishes and you could sample whale meat also if you wanted. We were a crowd of 13 so was good fun but all on different tables. I thought the food was good but a little heavy for me. Great service, nice staff and... More

As much as I like nasturtium flowers in my meals, I even more love the truth of real food. And believe me you will get it in Einhjornigen (forgive my spelling). Basic ingredients, in basic dishes but in which combinations! Whale carpaccio with cranberries and cream, mussel soup with saffron and magic, turbot ( they call it catfish) with mushroom... More

I had the asparagus & smoked salmon starter, the Cat fish main and the brown cheese ice cream for dessert. All three courses had good flavours and portion size of the main was generous. The brown cheese ice cream had a lovely salted caramel-like taste but better. Its a pricey but good meal.

We enjoyed a typical Norwegian dinner in a terrific atmosphere. The food was quite good and the variety good but not overwhelming.

Amazing food (fish mostly) and you MUST try the dessert, especially the brown cheese dessert and local berries!

Ordered the bacalau (cod with bacon, tomate sauce, cheese and bacon) + salmon. Both dishes were featuring dry fish. Come on... This must not happen in Bergen! Not recommended as a family restaurant with small kids 0-2 yrs old. The waiters, all except one did clearly not fancy our 15 month little girl. The atmosphere seems to me a bit... More

The TA reviews touted the quality of the seafood selections here and we found them to be spot on. From the fried scallops and asparagus with smoked salmon appetizers to the baked halibut and baked salmon entrees everything was wonderfully prepared, presented and tasted delicious. Service was friendly and helpful for us as first-timers. All in all a memorable dinner... More
