Ate here with my family (hubby, and 5 and 8 yo girls). In case it is not obvious, this is not a place to bring children to. The food is not children friendly. Having said that, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had the 12 course menu and they agreed to split our portions to the children. The... More

Now that they've moved to a new and more spacious location, it is easier to get a table. This is the best restaurant in Bergen for the moment. Wonderful food, attentive service, good atmosphere.

This was just great! We had the 12 cours menu. Every single one of the dishes were exciting, surprising and very tasty. It seems like they have a preference for sharp, clean tastes with a lot of acidity. Perfect when using a lot of sea food. Just amazing. The waiter was very knowledgeable. What, from where and when was standard,... More

This is a really nice place. The street view is not a lot but the entrance is blossoming and inside we are taken care of in the best manner. The kitchen is open facing the entrance. The cooks are welcoming us with "hello welcome!" We do feeling welcome :-) We went for a 12 dishes with wine. The food was... More

We went for a 7 course meal with wine package, and WOW, what an experience! Absolutely the best food experience in Bergen. Very impressed by the excellent service from the waiter, both the detailed explanation of the food and the level of knowledge of the wines. We loved decoration in the new restaurant in Kong Oscarsgate. We will definitely come... More

In my job, I'm lucky enough to get to eat pretty regularly in top restaurants throughout the world. My visit to Colonialen, however, was during my leisure time, and I was spending my own money - and I could not have been happier with it. Colonialen is without question top-tier - superbly-executed, imaginative food; wonderful, enthusiastic yet discreet service by... More

I had dinner with a group of work colleagues and clients. Not many words are needed to describe the experience: absolutely fantastic.

We have wanted to try Colonialen for a while but in the old place they were so small it was hard to get a table. With their new, larger restaurant setting this was made easier and we managed to book in when we wanted to. I was excited from what I had heard whereas my husband was more apprehensive. But... More
