If you are looking for white tablecloths and fawning waiters then this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for tasty local cuisine and an interesting range of craft beers then this is it. In the rain we stumbled on Pengvinen not realising how well it rated on TA. It was early in the evening and... More

Recommended by TA and a good recommendation as well. It is very expensive to eat in Bergen however this restaurant was reasonable (for Bergen) and very busy. The choice of food is very small and consists of around 5 dishes - fish pie, cod, meatballs, whale meat and another fishy dish. The cost for fish pie and meatballs was 169... More

We have arrived to the bar because of a recommendation from our host (and yes, the Lonely Planet guide). It was almost full but we managed to find a spot at a long table (6 people). It seems the manager and the staff didn't pay too much attention to that. As soon as another smaller table became vacant we switched... More

We were in Bergen in July and ate dinner at Pingvinen. My thoughts: 1. The service was friendly, thorough, and professional. 2. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. 3. The food is of very good quality and is prepared/presented well. Both of us had the fish pie and this dish is highly recommended. 4. Prices are reasonable relative to other... More

Its a lovely unique bar whith a vinyl shop in the same room. They have many different beers. One of the best beer ist the '7 Fjell' a local Ale near from Bergen. The bar is one of the insider tips from our norwegian friends.

Lovely place, good food in a traditional way. With electric sockets available to charge your phone this was excellent on a rainy afternoon in Bergen.

Great food- we ate meatballs and the veal cheeks and it was great. It was a casual simple meal but came together with such a nice service that all the experience was great at this simple casual but great restaurant in Bergen. They do not accept reservations and on the Sunday when we visited the kitchen closed at 9:45 PM.... More

Had lunch here with my husband during our trip to Norway, great food and the service was outstanding. I ordered a bowl of shrimps, which came with the heads still attached, shells and all. I explained to the waiter that this isn't how they are served in my country, so he proceeded to give me a demonstration on how to... More
