Nice selection of Beer!

We came here just for drinks and absolutely loved their selection of beer. The ULRIKEN is the best and i recommend everyone to try it. Its really Strong!

We were looking for a restaurant with some local fare and are glad that we found this pub. They have English menus available and you order at the bar. On Sunday evening it was quite busy and we got the last available table. Ordered the plukkfisk-white fish mashed with potatoes, served with flatbread and bacon. Quite tasty and comforting after... It's a bar that is crammed with tables on a first come, first served basis. Yes, the beers are good and it's great to be able to eat something more Norwegian without the usual Norwegian prices, but if you don't get there early enough during the busy tourist season, be prepared for a looooong wait (we turned round and went... This is very trendy gastro-pub, serving comparatively simple but tasty offerings. The kitchen closes at 10pm, just as everywhere, although some website claims that it works until 3am. It can get busy enough to have no available tables.

Good Norwegian food, reasonably priced. Been a couple times during my visit and everything I tried was good. Meatballs, fish and bacon was great and the fish lasagne. Nice service, ordering is done at the bar.

I was most attracted to this place because of its great selection of Norwegian-brewed beers: they have many varities on draft from several local breweries. Of course, like everywhere else in Norway, the beer is expensive and this is no exception (I believe max beer size for any draft beer was 12oz). Also, it's away from many of the more... More

The restaurant is tucked away on one of the side streets of central Bergen. The impression was that most of the crowed were locals. We were a Group of five, who without reservation got a table directly upon arrival. The service was friendly and accomodated all our needs. The (Norwegian) food was tasty and simple, but nothing speciall really.

We were looking for local food in the heart of Bergen. This place has high rating in Foursquare and we're so glad that we found this place. When we arrived, it was quite full and a bit surprised that it actually more like a pub/bar rather than a restaurant. The entire place was managed only by two waitresses, so maybe... More

Think I discovered the Penguin bar after reading about it in Lonely Planet and after a little wander around came across it - it was great! Small and cosy pub with lots of beers to choose from and the food was good too. They served traditional Norwegian food including meatballs, potatoes and peas which was much needed on a cold... More

Great selection of local beers, cool staff, brilliant comfort food, relaxed ambiance. A bit crowded at times due to lotsa great press both locally and in travel magazines and the like, but hey - we like that, right? Pingvinen (The Penguin) is by far our favourite, aquatic, flightless bird in Bergen - the Aquarium included!
