Over 50 years old this restaurant breathes decades of Bergen atmosphere - here is where the students used to go in the sixties and seventies - and now approaching old age they still go there. Actors and artists and the people of Bergen. You go here to have dinner with friends and you go here after theatre to have a... More

We were in this restaurant a year ago, around the same time (julebord and so on:) and everything was literally Perfect. So, we decided to repeat the experience this year and get some traditional Norwegian Food again. And this time it was a huge disappointment: the food was served...well, it was not served, random pieces of potatoes were just laying... More

Norwegian cuisine. Traditional Norwegian dishes and atmosphere. The pinnekjøt was fat. The beef was to little with few vegetables and price high. Waiters not professional but tried to be nice.

We were on a mission for the Norwegian version of what we Minnesotans call ruspeklub. Norwegians call it raspeboller and it is a Thursday night special at Wesselstuen. It is a potato dumpling we make from grated potatoes, flour and salt. This is formed into a ball and boiled in salted, smoked, ham broth and served with ham and melted... More

The fish soup as a starter, good. Then the artic char and the steamed bacalao, excellent both. We closed with the tilslørte bondepiker, a delicious traditional Norwegian dessert.

We where a large group that made advance reservation (with food choices). Nothing was prepared when we arrived. We had to wait 90 min for the food and almost the same time for any water or drinks. The reindeer steaks where terrible and any complaints to the server "Natalia" where useless as we where called "terrible" customers with foodallergies. Several... More

Well i had two amazing dishes, which i normally dont get in my country - Wild Bear & Reindeer. Although they were not that great in taste, may be my expectations were a bit high from the dishes. But it is a bit costlier than the other restaurants in the vicinity and this is more of like a date thing... More

This restaurant was advertised as the "World's most famous restaurant in Bergen". So we high expectations coming here. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best and the service was terrible. Atmosphere: If you go to the restaurant's website (http://www.wesselstuen.no/) you will see pictures of a dimly lit restaurant that looks very upscale and a classy setting. Sadly what we saw... nice atmosphere, really traditional menu, and old-fashioned service. What more do you want when visiting a Norwegian restaurant? Oh yes, quality. no problems there then!
