great place to drink coffee and people watch

Love their coffee (food is fine, but not great) and people watch from their outside tables. If it is raining, and likely will be in Bergen, there are also tables indoors

Wonderful little cafe near the National Theater. Had the shrimp au gratin which was delicious! Not too expensive considering this is Norway. Service was friendly and efficient.

Reasonably priced and very good Norwegian food. Got the reindeer and the cease salad with bacon and chicken. Big portion and very delicious. Meat all seems local to Norway. Nice people watching spot.

If I say "little" it is to imply cosy and welcoming and that there is nothing "grand" or fancy about Cafe Opera, despite its name - but it is absolutely everything the other reviewers have said it is. It is pub service with a nicely varied menu, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is full of restaurants... More

Every table had to wait for about 30 minutes seated... and you pay upfront. I would never return. Service is terrible.

Visited several times during 2015. Cafe Opera maintains the good atmosphere on one of the best corners in town. Great for a coffee/beer and newspaper. Menu is limited but varied. I had ceasar salad, rather disappointing. The reindeer steak was good however. I also had a white fish that was excellent. Chicken soup is also good. Cakes and deserts are... More

One more place off the main cruise ship paths to discover some local beers and good food. Here the food is fresh and the service was friendly and fast. I enjoyed the classy atmosphere but felt perfect with a 6 year-old hanging on to me as well. In the theater district close to the old opera house, it's well positioned... More

This restaurant is great for all occasions with great food that doesn't ruin a students economy. Try the daily specials, they're especially delicious. My favourite is definately the fish soup.

Hello Aina Cathrine, and thanks for a great review. For all you readers; the fish soup is a Wednesday special (but you might get lucky on an early Thursday too). More

Nice place to stay, eat and drink. We went there twice during our stay in Bergen. Relaxing, friendly and you can eat seafood, well cooked and at reasonable prices (for Norwegian standard)
