A Thursday evening, entrance floor filled up, one table free. We chose trout (sesambakt Hardangerørret) and burger with bacon. The wait for serving was about 20 minutes. Both courses came with four small potatoes, the burger with two fingernails of dressing, the trout with a salad plate. The trout was served with skin, head, tail and bones. Tasteless. The burger... This place has some great food and the ambience is fab! I went here a couple of times during my stay in bergen. Norway is pricey to begin with, so this place would be money wise like any other great average place back home where you are from if you were to compare.

For good, simple food, this is a very good choice. For lunch and dinner you can get excellent dishes without having to pay too much, in the evening/ night this old student/ hipsterplace can still give you very nice music or other cultural experiences. If you just want a coffe or a drink: In the first floor the chairs are... More

After two years away, we returned to Bergen and Cafe Opera, and it was as outstanding as we remembered... laid-back, cozy, and cool, with largely local patrons and delicious food. Their bacon cheese burger was one of the best that we've ever eaten, anywhere. And, their prices are modest.

My wife and I have just returned from a Norwegian cruise and Bergen was our first port of call. I had done a bit of research in relation to the Bergen cafe culture and the Cafe Opera appeared a few times. We had a light bite to eat and a few drinks. Both were good quality and not too expensive... More

A very friendly local bar-cafe bistro alike, where you can either enjoy your drink or a quick meal. Jazz music was a very nice touch.

A great little cafe with simple, but delicious food. Good service, pleasant location off the beaten track. I would easily go there again......not touristy!

This cafe is in a good spot, away from the crowds. The service is efficient and the food is very good. I ate the Greek salad which was very filling and delicious. My husband had a chicken dish which he enjoyed. A good place to eat in Bergen.

Planned to visit Naboen for their burger, but it was closed. So Café Opera was second choice. Busy place, good food. Burgers were good size, but a bit tasteless and dry. Would also have preferred fries to potatoes. But still, a safe bet.
