The Ravnkloa web site is in Norweigian but many words are easily translatable. The market is mentioned in Lonely Planet as one of the three best seafood markets in Norway. Ravnkloa is a traditional fish market w many varieties of fish for purchase. This is largely a place for locals to purchase their seafood. The market also has prepared selections for take out and also will prepare some selections for eating there. We had the best seafood in Trondheim while there. We went for lunch everyday and sampled the traditonal fisksuppe, fishcakes, cod fish balls, etc etc etc. Even cod tongue which tasted so much better than it sounds. This entry is not meant to be published as a review. This was to suggest that you list it for future travelers to Trondheim. If you list Ravnkloa, please let me know and I will write a review, all of which will be 5 stars..... Thank you

Clamshells direct from the water

We were walking around the area when we discovered the Ravnkloa. They have a big variety of nowegian Fiskeburger (Fishburger) and of fresh fish. We had some clamshells which we're taken fresh from the watertank and some graved salmon. Both tasted great.

To be fair. April is not a month one would expect a fish market to be sizzling with trade and tourists. Still it's just a fish monger admittedly with a nice view.

We are from Australia. Fishes could have nothing to surprise us. But when we walked into Ravnkloa Fish Market, it was scary. The very ugly monkfish skull and a stuffed seal were just next to the entrance. I thought what the hell? The shop (fish market) was small, but it had a lot of varieties of seafood, unlike our fish... This small restaurant is located in a fresh fish market right on the wharf .It has a limited menu but if the chef is not too busy you can ask him to prepare any fish from the market. The prices are good for Norway and the chef is very personable . Also and most importantly he cooks the fish perfectly... More

Since we had no possibility to cook, we only bought the ready-made food which were as tasty as expected. We we're pretty sad that the place is not opened on Sunday and we couldn't take anything back home with us. But nevertheless, we enjoyed their food as take-away in a various places in Norway. Now I only wonder which fish... More

This is a fantastic place for seafood. Their fresh fish and shellfish to take home is as good as you'll find anywhere, and their ready-made foods are on par with the fresh fish stuff. You absolutely have to try their fishcakes (they best I've ever had, and I've had a lot of fishcakes), as well as their awesome fiskegrateng (a... More

The best seafood one can get in Trondheim! Not only do they serve the best seafood, but they make it as well! Stuffed with smoked and graved salmon of different kinds, shrimps, scallops, cold smoked whale, fishcakes and mussels with matching drinks, this culinary experience is highly recommended. Atmosphere pretends on company, Maybe not the best place for romantic melas... More

You can visit Ravnkloa fish market, just to look at the local seafood, buy fish to prepare at home, or just buy a sandwich or bad of fresh boiled shrimps.
