Description: Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma...
Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma family the restaurant opened its door in 1993, and has been with the same family in the same location ever since. We are proud of this, but also humble to our guests' expectations of us.We regard ourselves as cultural ambassadors of India through the food we serve. Hence, as our guest you are not a customer but part of our family. We constantly source our ingredients from different suppliers, searching for the very best. That is why we also blend our own spice mixtures. This gives our food a unique flavor, and the recipes are a well kept secret.

Very good food! Had the chicken korma and it's the best I've tasted in Oslo. Prices are a bit high, but you can also order take out and that gives a small discount.

Was expecting more that a usual Indian restaurant, well below par in comparison to the Curry Mile in Manchester or London Indian restaurants.

I have vistied this place a number of times, and I am always pleased with the food. Great taste, nice atmosphere (not very big but cozy) and good service. I would recommend it to anyone who likes indian food, you will not be disappointed. Prices are quite high, but well worth the servings both in terms of flavour and sizes.... More

We were in the mood for Indian food and had seen a restaurant called Punjabi Tandoori. After reading several bad comments and finding out it was a fast food joint we decided to search further. Very happy we did. We spotted Mother India on a few websites and decided to make the hike up to the restaurant. It was uphill... More

Traditional Indian food served in a nice environment with good service. Our 3-dishes pre-ordered dinner for 21 persons really met our expectations. Selection of Indian beer and the sortiment of wines completed the event.

I was trying to decide between Mr. India and Mother India. Although the former is only two blocks from my hotel (I am a first-time traveler to Oslo) Mother India had more ratings, and really strong ratings, at that. Now I can see why! It was worth the 1 mile treck by foot in the rain to enjoy this savory... More

I've taken colleagues here several times now, and both the food and the service has been consistently great. We've been quite large groups (13-15 people), and they have accommodated us even though it's really a small and cozy restaurant. Honorable mentions goes to the naan bread which is the best I've ever had.

Awesome food with great service. The taste reminded me of home. The fact that the owner is always present says a lot.

Excellent dining experience at the restaurant Mother India. Very friendly and accommodating service. Nice atmosphere. Very good food with levels of spiciness for every one. Would have been even better if it were slightly roomier.
