Description: Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma family the restaurant opened its door in 1993, and has been with the same family in the same location ever since. We are proud of this, but also humble to our guests' expectations of us.We regard ourselves as cultural ambassadors of India through the food we serve. Hence, as our guest you are not a customer but part of our family. We constantly source our ingredients from different suppliers, searching for the very best. That is why we also blend our own spice mixtures. This gives our food a unique flavor, and the recipes are a well kept secret.

Having read the reviews here, we ventured down expecting something great and were not disapponted. The menu offers a good selection of North Indian classics. Having gone for the grill which arrived with the fanfare of a sizzling plate I can honestly say it was delicious , the meat was perfectly barbecued in the Tandoor. The manager was extremely warm,... Being a business traveller and fed up with eating alone in hotel restaurants and as a fan of the Indian hot cuisine I made it my mission to test Indian restaurants all across Europe. To say it upfront: At mother India I had probably the hottest Vindaloo in my entire life. But back to the beginning. Coming into the restaurant... More

Best Indian restaurant ever (in Europe). Besides the high price (in accordance with the standards in Oslo) the experience in Mother India could not be better. I strongly recommend the vegetarian dishes, delicious! I went with an Indian friend who said that Mother India serves actual Indian and homemade food. Do not miss it!

Made an online reservation for a dinner during my stay in Oslo. Reaction were swift en friendly. Its located a bit outside 'touristic' Oslo but thats not a disadvantage IMO! When I arrived at the restaurant it started with just fantastic smells coming out of the kitchen. Fellt beiing in India/Nepal area again. The restaurant isn't too big so probably... More

The restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I have visited in Norway, and the best in Oslo. The food reminds me of the authentic taste of India. The service was very prompt and makes us feel at home. So if you want to taste good food and to fulfil your appetite, visit this restaurant. On the flip side,... More
