Expensive but great!

This was one of my best restaurant experiences ever. The food here is excellent. The chefs does a great job composing the menu and pairing the dishes with wine. To bad it is closing in December 2015....

Ylajali has to be one of my - if not THE, favorite restaurants in Oslo. The food is amazing and surprising and leaves you wanting more. The service is attentive and friendly, but not intruding. I can't decide on a favorite course, but the langoustine and leek courses are amazing! Probably the best wine menu in Oslo! This was our... More

My wife and I have been lucky enough to eat at numerous Michelin starred restaurants in the UK, but Ylajali beats them all hands down. The concept, although highly pretentious, was very interesting, and I loved the whole theatre of getting the book to go through with every dish. The staff were excellent and really knew their stuff, but obviously... More

But not far off. The same can be said about the food - not the best, but very good indeed. The service is relaxed yet attentive and engaging without becoming intrusive. I'm not entirely sure how successful their conceit of "menu as novel" is, but the courses hang together well enough, the wine selection sits pleasingly alongside and the quality... More

I've planned to try to get a table here for a long time, and when the announcement came that Ylajali will close in December this year - I ordered a table. I had high expectations - and they were met! The 19 dish tasting menu is the only option. The wine menu is highly recommended from the staff - and... More

We had a fabulous dinner in this restaurant. We highly recommend it. There is a tasting menu. Each dish was unique and special. The chef takes great pride in his food and it was evident. We particularly loved the grilled dishes. It was the best leek and the best turbot I have ever had. The staff was very knowledgable and... More

19 courses, paired with 14 specially selected wines. Every course was beautiful, delicious and perfectly crafted. The wines were, as expected, excellent with each dish they were served with. But it was £1000 for three of us. Norway is an expensive country anyway, but this was a lot of money for a meal, and three times as much as I've... More

We have this evening been on a 5 hours journey based on 20 different local Norwegian clean and ecological products created with knowledge and enthusiasm. One of my best meals ever with a wonderful combination of excellent and balanced wines. If you are able to - please select this restaurant on your next visit to Oslo. Thank you so much... More

Ylajali is no doubt one of the best restaurants in Oslo, perhaps the very best. There is only a tasting menu on offer, but this is a real treat. In 3 to 3,5 hours around 20 tastings of the best the Nordic kitchen can offer is served. It does not get any better than this. Service is superb, with staff... More

Ylajali is a brilliant place. Inventive, nice staff, excellent food. Yes, a Michelin star. They've decided to close by the end of the year, so it's adviceable to get booking.
