At Ylajali you get more than a meal, you get an experience. The staff was profesional, yet friendly, the food was amazing and exciting. The wines were perfectly matched and all excellent. All in all an a perfect evening.

One of the best meals to get in Oslo. One well deserved Michelin star. Perfectly balanced courses in flavors and textures. Yes Maaemo is in my opinion better, but Ylajali is so damn close, more sensibly priced and easier to get a table. Wines where not perfectly paired to the courses on our visit, but where good in taste an... More

Yes, one night in heaven! Exactly! Ylajali gives you a most memorable evening. There has always been excellent food, outstanding service and a lot of happiness at Ylajali. But at these days Mr. Ramsvik & co gives you the best! One set menu and one wine menu. 20 challenges to your taste, combined with a perfect wine selection (thanks to... More

Having vissited Ylajali in 2012, I came back for a second visit in may 2014 after it recieved it's (well-deserved) Michelin star. Remembering my visist in 2012 as quite impressive (it was one of my first experiences with "fine dining"), my expectations were high. I was not let down! The entrance to Ylajali is almost hidden, but once you enter... More

Michelin one-star restaurant Ylajali, is almost/maybe the best restaurant in Norway. Only two-star restaurant Maaemo does it better, but at Ylajali you get similar quallity for a lot less money. Ylajali serves modern nordic cuisine, and the food is as good as it gets. Theres no A la carte meny, just the "food menu". Something like 9 courses + several... More

By anyone's standards, this is a fine restaurant with a creative menu. However, when the table captain, or lead sever, or whoever he was, will not explain the courses or wines in an understandable way (and gets visibly angry and haughty when asked to repeat or give more detailed information) then all of the chef's efforts go down the drain...literally.... The whole setting in an old building with perfect atmosphere and macho Nordic food- the chef Ramsvik is a genious luring us into new flavours- some completly new something known wrapped into recognizable tastes- it is art- contemporary art is expensive and provocative

Beware! One set menu and one wine menu. But 20 challenges to your taste buds combined with a perfect wine selection and excellent and extremely knowledgeable service, made it an outstanding experience. we agreed that 18 of 20 dishes represented a new taste and the presentations were all exquisite. It cannot be explained - it must be experienced!

Each dish a mini-masterpiece. Each plate made by a ceramic artist in modern inventive design to match the dish. Flavors soar. Wild vegetables and greens, small marinated fishes, tine balls of flavor frozen by nitrogen or diced to minuscule delights. An amazing evening of 3 1/2 hours of non stop wonder. Even for a food, a very excellent taste experience.... More

My wife and I decided to try this after reading a review in Aftenposten newspaper. We got the 21 course meal with wine package, and went out on a fantastic culinary journey. The most expensive meal we´ve ever had, still well worth the price. Truly professional service in every aspect. We came up with a few tricky questions, which both... More
