If you enjoy great food with even better wine then this is the place to be! The food is very unusual so be prepared to step out from your comfort zone! Its worth it :)

Excellent dinner at Ylajali. The restaurant is hosted where Ylajali lives in Hamsun's novel Hunger, the menu appears as a book, the dinner is constructed in parts and chapters as a a book would, very elegant and nice concept. Dinner comes in 15-18 servings centred on Norwegian products and cooking techniques (fermentating, marinating, wood firing, smoking...) making it an inventive... More

Original, yet traditional - result: amazing. Just the right modern twist to basic foods. But dont get me wrong; everything was so creative, but just not too much. An exeptional experience every time a new course was served (and it was about 21! in all). The wine menu was also very good. If you can get a table, definitiely worth... More

Ylajali is a fantastic restaurant, with one Michelin star. They deserve it! Its a fantastic food-experience, but don't go there in a rush. Ylajali demands your full attention for the entire evening. They do not make compromises food-vise. During our visit one of us was pregnant, and instead of serving the beef well done, a fantastic halibut dish was served... More

I liked the food, wine, service, and atmosphere here very much, but in spite of that, my overall experience was negative and I would not return! My problem was with the overall composition of the menu. There was no choice--all customers had to order the full tasting menu consisting of 19 courses! After 13 courses (3 of which I left... More

We celebrated a birthday and booked a table well in advanced. The room at Ylajali is beautiful. We order the wine following the set menue. The food was absolutly excellent and the wine a superb match. We are looking forward to the New Nordic Michelin guide in February ⭐️⭐️

The title of the review says it all but to be clear, I've eaten at an array of Michelin starred restaurants around the world, 3 star, 2 star and 1. This stands head and shoulders above all of them and their gamut of famous name chefs. The reason, of course, is the mind blowing, cutting edge food but much more... More

We came here for a birthday celebration. It was our second visit to this restaurant. The first was about a year ago and a memorable experience. We were not disappointed this time either. Very pleasant and attentive personnel. Each course - and there are many, all based on Norwegian ingredients - are carefully and beautifully prepared. A pleasure for the... More

Five friends. We also know a place like Maaemo (two Michelin stars) but Ylajali in many respects comes across as just as good. Extremely exciting menu inspired by author Knut Hamsun's book "Hunger". Norse flair like a black metal inspired all black dish. Perfect service. One dish a bit salty, which was duly noted and corrected.

I've been here twice, once with my girlfriend (July'14) and last with my friends. Both times were excellent. The food is great, all 20-or so servings are beautifully served. Accompanying wines were good for most parts (we also had the wine menu) and all in all one of the better meals you can get in Oslo. All the way up... More
