Good food, good service, moderately priced and properly spicy

We ate here a few weeks ago as a group of Brits loving in Oslo. We are constantly looking for a decent curry and this was the first time we had tried Mehfel. I had the starter of veh pakora followed by murgh tikka. Both were very good. I asked for spicy and it was just that, not the usual,... read more

Oslo is full of main stream restaurants that will serve you the same dish from the same menu, at least it can feel like it sometimes. When you visit Mehfel, it is like traveling to a different country. The whole atmosphere invites you to drift away like culinary getaway. The service is top notch, going for a cosy, homeish feel,... Being English, Pakistani cuisine is not as easy to come by in the UK but we need a restaurant like this in London. Service excellent, attentive, friendly. Food is very reasonably priced and is clearly made fresh, rather than from base sauces and quickly on the table. Food takes time but is worth it, rich, spicy, so flavourful and large... More

The food was far from spicy and bland and the chicken was dry. The staff kept forgetting the orders, even those they had specifically recommended. It was difficult to get their attention to pay the bill.

Nice and clean restaurant in the centre of Oslo. They specialize in Pakistani cousine. Service was pompt, about 15 minutes waiting for my food. I had Dal Makhni and Garlic Naan for total of 185 NOK, about 21 EURO or 25 USD. I was given lentil soup on the house. Food was fresh and tasty. Dal came with rice. They... More

We tried Mehfel on Saturday night, walked in off the street, without booking and were able to get a table no problem (but you can book a table online via their web site). There was a private function out the back with a large family of Sudanese or Ethiopian, which had arrived. For me that was already a good sign... More

Really smart restaurant (well for us). Good selection on offer, things that we hadn't seen before. I had the chicken wings in honey with added "fire" for starter - oh yummy. Mains came with rice (which would have been refilled if we wanted), we were asked how spicy we wanted it and were both happy with the different levels served.... More

I took my family there for dinner because they are vegan and vegetarian and this restaurant can deliver appropriate dishes. The setting is pristine clean, with linen and fine cutlery and glassware, and the service is excellent. We waited awhile because everything is made fresh. It was well-presented and delicious and a real treat to enjoy a flavourfull meal. Good... More
