Hidden gem!

From central Oslo it is a pleasant 40 min. walk to Smia through Grønland park and Klosterenga park skirting the imposing walls of Oslo Prison. Head for Vålerenga Park with Vålerenga Church in national romantic style on it's grassy mound. The restaurant lies by the park in a quaint old building that... read more

Always enjoy this place, it has a good atmosphere and while the menu is small it is always good and I think reasonably priced for Norway. We did 5 course with wine pack addon. Only thing keeping me from giving it 5/5 was the long wait before the last course. I don't really mind waiting if the kitchen is backed... More

This is a great little restaurant that is a little out of the way. It is a refurbished building that is right across from Vålerenga church. The food is good, the wine list is good, the serving is good and the ambiance is good.

Sometimes you go to a restaurant without any large expectations. And then you are thrown into a gourmet feeling, and talk changes from business to food. This happened in Smia. An ordinary business dinner, was served with so good accompanied wine - ordinary priced - but proposed by the very kind waitress. I went for the geese, fish and cheese... More

Last went here in the Winter break as a belated Valentines day date with my wife. There wasn't to many people in that day, but the atmosphere was still great. The artwork and the all the candles really gives this place a cosy setting. We had a Three-course dinner, and we also got bread to begin with and a little... More

This hidden gem is situated in one of Oslos oldest and most charming neigborhoods. The area itself is an atraction, so set aside a little time for a walk in the park, and by the river nearby. It's a very small place, so advance booking is advisable, espescially in the weekends. The cuisine is modern french / nordic and the... More

all the meals were good and we enjoyed the place as well. It was well cooked. I am not into meat, and when I saw one dishe with dear, I was scared, but it was one of the best meat I ever had. Some people took the wine paring, and I think the wine was not so great , but... More

My friends and I had a lovely evening. Delicious food, good wine and perfect service. The waiter came to the table at precisely the right moments the whole evening! Filling glasses with water and wine. Not to long to wait between the courses. Perfect place for friends, couples and larger partys.

We were in Oslo for three nights and selected restaurants in advance for dinner based on TA--we ate at Smia Galleri on our last evening in Oslo. It is a lovely restaurant and a bit out of town, but easy to get to. The owner was very attentive and helped us with the menu. The food was a bit slow... More

We took an evening out an choose the Smia Galleri, in Vålerenga. Smia is not a very well known resturant as such, which in a way makes it a gem of a place. Smia is a very charming and laid-back resturant. The photo's on the walls are also very impressive. We were lucky and were placed out in the main... More
