Charming historical surroundings, good food

The main draw of Smia is the atmosphere and historical surroundings. Outside for lunch in summer, with a view on the Vålerenga church, inside next to the fireplace in winter. Good food and good atmosphere. Good for romantic dinners.

Smia Galleri is slightly outside the city centre (about 15-20 minutes by foot from the central), and is situated nicely at the foot of Vålerenga kirke, which has a great view of Oslo. It has a great atmosphere and ambiance with a slightly quirky feel. The food was great and so were the drinks. It's laid-back and a great place... More

Very quaint restaurant just out of town but a 10 min walk from where we were staying. We had a la carte (mussel soup to start and the deer and fish for mains) the food was incredible- big portions and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Expensive, but for a one off or for a special evening would definitely... More

First visit to Oslo and found this great little place to eat on here actually... The restaurant lives up to the reviews and the food is cracking. Our waiter did a great job of translating the menu into English for us and the service was excellent. Only negative I would say is that value wise, comparatively to a lot of... More

We called on the off chance on a Tuesday and got an early table. An excellent dining experience which I would recommend. Went with 17 year old son who enjoyed and ate everything. Beautifully presented in charming surrounds.

We dropped in without a reservation on a Thursday evening and despite being very busy we were seated and treated to one of our best dining experiences in a long time. We splurged on the tasting menu and had five amazing courses, highlighted by the a shrimp soup that was among the best dishes I have had in a long... More

One of my favourite restaurants in Oslo. One of the very few gourmet places eastside of town. I've been there 3-4 times the last couple of years on various occasions. The food is always seasonal, delicious and creatively assembled. Friendly service and the atmosphere extremely charming. If you're after a high quality meal, you won't be disappointed!

my family and I (including my grandpas!) enjoyed a great dinner at Smia. the venue is charming and quiet, with great service of the many waitresses that have a special touch in getting the "vibe of the table". we loved both the deer and the salmon, though i'd push the deers since it was the best we ate in Oslo.... Arrived in Oslo tonight and received a recommendation for this restaurant from our airbnb host. What a great place, hidden away in a quiet neighbourhood street just minutes on foot from where we are staying. Beautiful food, beautifully presented, good service. One of the best restaurant meals I have had while travelling....ever. À la carte or set menu, 3, 4... More
