I had a wonderful experience at Maaemo. This was also my first Michelin starred restaurant so I have nothing to base this review on when it comes to that echelon of food. Though it is a bit difficult to find as google does not have an updated place for where it is now (to the right of the bridge at... More

We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants around the world. However, Never have we ever discussed the disappontment dinning experience at length for the next few days - between ourselves nor to our friends :(. Not worth the price, nor the reputation it deserves sorry to say. Next!

We anticipated a great culinary experience at maaemo, with its two-star Michelin Guide status. And to a certain extent we got that. A wide variety of tastes in numerous dishes, but hardly any "food". The main dishes were half a scallop and a finely sliced piece of duck. Their home-made bread with butter serving was almost a must, at least... More

I believe this restaurant got 2 M-stars due to an outstanding service and effort they put into every guest. 28 courses! wow. Yes, the service is amazing. So is the atmosphere overlooking the new quarters of Oslo. Beautiful. But in the end the big question: was the food worth 2 stars? I tell you: definitively no. There were only very... More

Have you ever wondered about the artistic value of a urinal or a stylistic representation of a can of tomato soup? Is it art? Well, to me, art in this context is all about subtext, how these works of art are different from art as tradition, in understanding the urinal, and in the soupcan as art lies a breach from... More

Amazing food experience, great service and art-looking dishes. After more than 20 small dishes your mind and tunmy is still up for more exciting suprises to come. I selected the alcohol-free drinking meny which was above my expectation. My alcohol drinking friends, however, were also very pleased with their drinks. Nevertheless, several wished they has choosen the tasty home-made fruit... More

Much has already been written in detail about the Maaemo experience, so we will simply summarise our own views here. Overall, it is a fairly unique experience with great creativity around the presentation of the food, which itself was very good. Service was very efficient, and wine pairings also excellent. However, it is debatable whether it is worth the very... More

The food is delicious, and I love the way they experiment with the Scandinavian food and flavours and the way it is all presented. I must however agree with other reviewers in their request for more actual fish or meat. I have eaten on 2 and 3 Michelin starred restaurants in i.e. New York, and even with a full wine... More

We were a company if six who dined at Maaemo yesterday evening. We had high expectations as the restaurant is awarded 2 Michelin stars. We were thoroughly disappointed soon after we arrived. The restaurant was loud despite relatively few tables with echoing and high volumes of chatter. Not relaxing at all! We were offered Champagne upon arriving, and were served... More

A lot has been written about Maaemo, so I will be brief and just summarize my main impressions. In short: this has been one of the best, and one of the three most inventive meals I ever had. Yes, it is expensive, but this is justified. Each and every single one of the more than 20 small courses that made... More
