The restaurant only consists of 8-9 tables and is quite popular since it has two Michelin Stars. They practise the use of local norwegian food and combine it with a genious touch of nature in way you seldom experience. Booked two months ahead. Enjoyed the evening with friends on a saturday evening. Spent a total of five hours at the... More

I've been to a lot of 2 Michelin star restaurants, and two 3 star ones, but this is still my favorite of all my restaurants. It's very expensive, but it's a memory for life! loved it!

Maaemo means Mother Earth in old Finnish, and the two Michelin star restaurant emphasizes food that is close to mother earth, naturally/ locally sourced, and showcasing the raw nature of Norway. There are only eight tables in the restaurant and reservations have to made a few months in advance. It is a set menu of 20 courses with/ without wine... More

A 2 star Michelin is, of cource, very good. Some of the 20 "dishes" are marvelous, some more strange, following a line, but few surprises. The waiters should speak Norwegian, especially when presenting the cources (not French/English). Very expensive wine pairing and too litle wine (especially in the start), empty glasses. Almost only French wines. The Chablis was chablis (not... More

WOW! x 2 We went to this 2 star (Michelin) restaurant to enjoy a mini wedding dinner. The staff was just AMAZING, true old style waiters with a great knowledge about the food and drinks served. The food was just to die for - local, tasteful, eco, fresh and so well prepared. We where lucky to go up to the... More

We finally got a table at Norway's best retaurant on our anniversary on March 6. Exaggerated expectations can provide unrelenting criticism, but we can not give other than standing ovation. Maaemo can not be compared with an general exclusive restaurant, but is an art experience of flavors accompanied by a refined service of dedicated people who take pride in optimizing... More

This is a place for the really big occasions. Amazing food - amazing service - amazing wine. Everything here is made to spoil you and get you to experience new food and new flavors. The food is presented in an artistic way and look just as beautiful as it tastes. Experience of a lifetime.

Some 20-22 different little servings with tastes that are almost impossible to describe. No wonder Maaemo has two Michelin stars!

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Great facilities in a part of town you do not expect to find 2 michelin guide stars. Through 24 dishes you encounter large share of Norwegian food traditions together with a fantastic wine combination. Wine and food complement each other in a way we have not experienced before. This is worth a detour.... More
