We had a three course menu with beef meat as the main course. Both the starter (soup) and main course was disappointing. The soup was to sharp (spicy) - while the beef had a taste of liver... We had higher expectations for a place like this (run by the same company that has Onda and Oro). The service was however... More

The service is too slow. The food takes too long to arrive at the table. The food is excellent value and they do cook some of it ver well. Five courses for 400 is a robbery (on my part). I have a few suggestions: Your cauliflower soup is perfect, dont touch it. The cod is also perfect. The sirloin steak... More

I was there with business collegaues and we had a preorder set menu. The food was good, but the experience was overshadowed by poor, unprofessional, and slow service. So slow that several people left before dessert was served. A shame because the location is good, and the kitchen staff did a good job.

With a few hours to spare before embarking on the last leg of our cruise, we stopped at 'Alfreds' for a late lunch. Set almost on the quayside it is an ideal place to watch the world go by, especially on a sunny day when you can sit under the canopy at street level. Service is good, the wine excellent... More

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. I have been here twice eating the 5 course dinner, which is value for money. However, the pairing wine menu is expencive and we got just a few sips per glass. So that's where they make up for the cheaper tasting menu. Service was far from impressive, waitress was grumpy. No presentation of... More

This is a curious place for dinner: it's part of the Nobel Peace Centre near the City Hall and in the evening it feels like you are eating in a big empty building. The interior dining room is large, with widely-spaced tables, and on the night we were there most of them were empty leading to a dull atmosphere. There... More

Had dinner here in the evening an excellent setting watching the world go by. We had the 5 course menu which included a glass of wine with each course, the menu is very seafood orientated but is excellently presented and very tasty. The staff are very friendly and service is very efficient and you aren't hurried but as with all... More

We had lunch at this delicious "tourist trap!" Enjoyed great house rosè, local beer and great food. The ceviche was yummy, but the highlight were the gambas (shrimp); they were a bit spicy in a great sauce. So good we actually had 2 orders! There are many choices around, all priced about the same. If you're going to spend the... More

Dinner was a very limiting affair. Unless one had the 3/5 course dinner, you had only choice of 2 entrees. Nice looking place. Service was very good. A little pricey for what you ate. Food was good to very good. Would have liked more variety.

As for fine dining and offers, they don't come hand in hand at restaurant. Especially not in Oslo. I've read a few decent reviews of Alfred up front, so the expectations was raised. We came in and found that the weeks 5 course menu was only 400 NOK, a bargain. The lobster bisque was grand as a starter, the fried... More
