Ranked #409 of 874 restaurants in Oslo
Cuisines: Café, Bistro, Gastropub
Description: Nice neighbourhood restaurant and pub in Oslo's main shopping street, Bogstadsveien. A wellknown meeting spot with soul and atmosphere, and a history dating back to 1885. Since then, the premises have been housing both a pharmacy and a bakery. As a restaurant, The Broker has been an informal and popular hang out place with many musicians and artists among its regular guests. The newer Broker retains a classic, brown interior, decorated ceilings and large chandeliers. The Broker has a good selection of beer, wine and liquor, preferably from smaller Norwegian producers. It has of course a great selection of tasty dishes on the menu as well. Everything is made from scratch and based on seasonal ingredients. Atmosphere and friendliness is Brokers trademark. The Broker has the ability to make you feel relaxed and welcome - and once you have been there, chances are you'll repeat the visit.

Wanted a quick burger, had heard some good stuff. Not all that.. Nobody answered the phone, so I got transferred to the managers private cell. Which happened to be off work. So she had to call in my order on some other number. Strange to say the least.

Lovely decor, you can sit outside even in the winter to do a bit of people watching. Beer, food and service is good.

We have been there four times. Twice on a Saturday lunch and twice on a Sunday brunch. Last time was on Sunday 20.10.2013. We had two buffet plates, a burger and a eggs ad bacon. Place was lovely and full. I have seen it with excellent service, however yesterday was not a good day for that. Service was not adequate... More

We passed by sunday evening for a quick bite and decided to try out the burgers. Very attentive waiter promptly asked how I wanted mine done - I selected medium and my wife well done. We were both extremely pleased - among the best hamburgers you can get. Very central location in Bogstadveien near Majorstua. Nice and clean premises -... More

This place is situated along one of Oslo's "wannabe hipster" streets the Bogstadveien, and I'd advice against anyone to ever set their feet there. The food was decent enough (though awfullt expensive!) but it took forever to order and to get served. Not nice Swedish waitresses at all. Go somewhere else.

Food was good but when I visited in November 2012 it had lost its drinks license so soft drinks only available.

Yes, there are newer and 'trendier' eating and drinking spots along one of Oslo's best-known shopping streets (Bogstadveien), but there's something about "The Broker" that makes it just plain comfortable and fun. Maybe it's the people watching. This place attracts a full range of patrons from Holmenkollen fashionistas to blue collar laborers. The former like to sit in the front... More

It's a decent place to go for a drink, but if you want to eat you better go somewhere else. At least judging from my experience recently. I was there for recently, really hungry so I was in the market for a burger. Knowing that burgers tend to be quite dull in lunch places like this I went for their... More

Old restaurant at Majorstua in Oslo. Okay food with disinterested service staff. Okay place for business lunches and afternoon burgers - but otherwise stay clear. There are better places in the immediate proximity, like Bolivar's just down the street.
