I have eaten at this café/restaurant several times. The position is central, and I enjoy the environment both inside and outside. I also love the concept: Food and culture. But the food and service is just OK. Yesterday I had a shrimp sandwich. The presentations was beautiful, but it was quite tasteless. This is often the case, I am afraid.

This place is great for lunch. Located near the Castle the place is very popular. The house is used to debates and litteratur discussions. Some of the debates are broadcastet on national TV (NRK) as well. The service is OK, and the Food is Nice. You may also be in luck and get a table outside.

The restaurant is better for cathering than for a couples dinner. I enjoyed a couple of meals there but service is rather poor.

Nice combination of simple tasty food and literature. Good selection of beers too. Service not fast, but then again, this is Oslo... not New York...

I went to Litteraturhuset to enjoy a Friday lunch with my Mum, and was highly disappointed. After having entered a gorgeous building and being met by an overall lovely atmosphere, we were both set for a nice meal - yet the continued experience unfortunately did not live up to the initial impressions. Firstly, we were not met by any waiters,... More

This place has a relaxed athmosphere and the service is friendly. Try the herring! Very tasty and delicious.

This is a hidden pearle in Oslo. It's a combined drinking and reading experience. Don't miss out. My favorite place in Oslo!

Really lovely cafe in Oslo, opposite the park that sits behind the royal palace. Perfect for a long lunch in the sun - if there is sun lol. Food is very good and healthy. The staff are all very good looking and very cool - perhaps too cool to serve people - they had lots of friends dropping by so... More

While the bookshop is small, it houses a better selection of literature than some of the larger American megastores. Light, open, airy, a very pleasant place to sit and read/converse/relax. Took a while to get served and some of the staff are less on the ball, but one of the staff outdid herself when we had some lost property and... More

At first look this cafe/restaurant does not look too much. Connected to a very small book shop, it is located next to the Royal Palace and usually has the odd celeb. Decent wine list but the staff are so so. If you can ignore bad manners for location, worth a try.
