Good food in an historic setting.

The ambience in this restaurant is outstanding--a beautiful, historic building. The food is very good, and the service is attentive. An excellent experience.

Recommended by our hotel, we had our last dinner in Oslo here. We had had a few meals on the colorful and energetic waterfront already, and this was an ideal balance to give us a dose of old world charm. The meal was very good on average (one person's lamb was not spectacular, but the other person's roast pork was... More

This is an attractive restaurant in an historic building. Couple the venue with great food, service and wine provides a superb dining experience. Wait staff are attentive, provide appropriate descriptions to food enquiry and knowledgeable on wine choice. A wonderful experience for business, romance, special occasion or a casual night out with friends. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Found this restaurant via tripadvisor first. Did not disappoint at all! Waiter was helpful in recommending the best fish cuisine. I had fishsoup and skrei paired off with a wine. Food was stunning in both presentation and taste! Ambience and decor of the place was lovely as well. And the waiter was awesome and kept checking to make sure I... More

On my recent business trip to Oslo I was taken to have dinner at the Gamle Raadhus. We were seat in the far corner where a group of smokers used to gather each Friday afternoon and puff away. This gathering had been taking place for 20 or more years until around 2001 when smoking in restaurants was banned. Needless to... More

This is one of Oslo`s oldest restaurants, and has one of Oslo`s best Lutefisk (dried, lye-cured cod from Lofoten). Have tried some restaurants for the traditional meal Lutefisk. Here at Gamle Raadhus , everything was close to perfect, from the staff at the wardrobe to the Chef of the restaurant, who actually came out to speak to the customers on... More

The food is delicious, the presentation is nice, and the staff is friendly. We asked the waitress to select a good red wine and she did a great job of selecting a tasty wine that wasn't too expensive. Even though the check at the end was a bit higher than we were prepared for, we enjoyed the food and atmosphere.... More

This is one of Oslo's oldest restaurants. The building has character and therestaurant is cozy and quiet. In the summer season there is a large outside area serving drinks and food. The bar room is spartan and chairs could be more comfortable. The meal more than made up for that. The service was discrete and attentive. The food is very... More

This is a genuine and antique atmosphere with 3 secles vibrating in the walls. A well composed Meny and very kind and nice service, who took the time to inform about the dishes and the wine and even tell us about Oslo. The fish we had was just marvellous, nice arranged and a tasting like haven. As always Oslo is... More

For starters we had St Kristina ham from Tynset, with a glas of champagne (les Mesnil, don't remember producer, but fullbodied and delicious). I had a milk poached halibut with roasted pine nuts and beurre blanc. Yum! Along with a glass of red bourgogne (a great Santenay). My wife had roasted arctic char with a delicious shellfish risotto. The place... More
