Ranked #11 of 70 restaurants in Tromso
Certificate of Excellence 2014
Price range: $19 - $55
Cuisines: European
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch, Dinner, Reservations, Late Night
Description: Just like its more mature Harstad sibling (1996), this Tromsø-restaurant celebrates the French and Italian love of food, but gives it a North Norwegian character. The obvious focus for De 4 Roser is, of course, on the combination of food, wine and service. Local suppliers and local produce is an important factor in the menu. De 4 Roser can seat 60 and features a contemporary kitchen and an interior that is both simple and austere. This is an excellent venue for both small and large occasions. The first floor café is designed in a European style and the coffee and lunch menus are just as good as in Harstad. A dinner and large drinks menu is also available. Food is served daily from 10 am.

Seems a popular place with locals, we used the downstairs cafe type, we had a fish soup for lunch, very nice and light, the price was reasonable considering, service good, and pleasant for a break in a busy day.

We ordered a 7 course menue and I think we had 11 all in all. New and interesting combinations seamed to appear from the magicians at the kitchen. One of the litle niblets we had before desert did nothing to us, but the rest was fantastic. The wine pacage was a very good match with the food. Lots of good... More

I do not understand other travelers' reviews. Yes, the food looks good on the plate and it's well presented, but you'll feel sooo heavy and fat after eating a simple burger! I ate here twice, both downstairs, one a normal burger, second time a fishburger, sooooo salty, I couldn't finish it. Perhaps the dinning upstairs is better, butI wouldn't come... More

Following recommendations on trip advisor, I decided to dine here while in the city. The food was good, but as the place had so high score, I was a bit disappointed. All though home made, I missed a variety in the menu, and there were no starters. All though the waitress was nice and friendly, she did not make any... More

We had a lovely shrimp salad and smoked salmon sandwich for lunch. The chef served it herself. Wait staff were helpful and friendly. I had an good cortado with soy milk to finish. We missed the fish and veggie burgers on Burger Thursday. You shouldn't.

The cafe presents well, with a nice athmosphere. However, as soon as you sit down you notice a few cracks in the silver lining. Most of the tables can't be moved as they are bolted to the floor; ok if your company consists of two, less practical if you visit with a group of friends. The menu is displayed on... More

We tried several restaurants in Tromso including Fiskekompaniet, Coffee by Elli, Aunegarden, Arctandria, Emma's Drommekjokken, and Egon. We ate at the cafe first and enjoyed it so much that we went back another evening to dine at the restaurant upstairs. Earlier in the week we ate at Emma's Drommekjokken (the more expensive upstairs dining area). Overall, I enjoyed the meal... More

We ate in the cafe having heard great reports. The dish of the day was a slow cooked lamb with veg and mash. It was a generous portion and delicious. The cafe was low on atmosphere during our visit but I would still have been more fulsome in my praise were it not for the staff. During the meal the... More

We had business dinner in there, good food, but there are not plenty of options to choose from - just a daily menu, but prepared very well. I liked this, but if you're looking for more European , then choose smth else. Good wine menu!

This is for the time being the most exciting restaurant in Tromsø. It is maybe the place in town that live best up to the style of the New Nordic Kitchen. You choose between a 4 or 6 course menu, all based (for the most part) on local produce. The kitchen is very creative and will give you a great... More
