I know this place very well since I keep coming back with family and friends. It,s the 10th generation that is living on this farm that was turned into a gourmet restaurant. The surroundings are beautiful, whether you want to observe the Northern Lights (borealis) in the dark period, or the Midnight Sun in the summer time. There are also... More

A birthday celebration with the a good parts of our big family- 19 persons with small children and a carrige- spent 2 hours with a 3 course dinner- all home made style in the cosy timber framed rustic barn with original local artwork, candelligths and a fireplace. The kids playing inside and outside- its a very nice place for everyone.... More

Had a buffet dinner with family members in September. Starters were ok, soup and a few other dishes at a stand. Main course was prepared in the kitchen and tasted very good. Large portion and cooked to perfection. After dinner you chose dessert from a stand. Puddings etc. that tasted alright. Good service from the waiter who was also the... More

Røkenes Gård is a whole experience, and not just a meal. The atmosphere is unique and the service impeccable. The dining-rooms are decorated so as to create a fitting frame around the experience without distracting from the food. The food itself is a choice of local and traditional Norwegian dishes which make up an unforgivable evening. You leave Røkenes Gård... More

Extremely friendly and courteous service. We enjoyed excellent plum cake and coffee before walking along the water edge to Stornes. We had used enough energy on a very hot day to return for dinner. Excellent smoked reindeer with lingonberries, potatoes and other small delights followed by traditional cod with potatoes, cauliflower, cream sauce and small pieces of roasted pork. It... More

Unfortunately cannot comment on food even though the menu sounded very nice... Problem was that they close the kitchen at 9pm... So plan accordingly!

Rökenes Gård consisst of several old buildings. The farm dates more than 500 years back, always functioning as a house fit for travellers and kings. In fact it is the place where the King of Norway prefer to stay when visiting the Harstad region. Mikhail Gorbachev with wife Raisa also chose this place. 2 weeks ago my wife and I... More

We have just returned from a short trip to Harstad to celebrate the New Year and we had the honour of dining at Rokenes with Kristian and his family on New Years Eve. The meal was outstanding - I'm sure the chef is a wizard as I've never tasted meat so tender and flavoursome, followed by the chocolate and raspberry... More

This week with a group we had a superb evening meal at this amazing venue, a wooden converted barn and superb views outside. Earlier that day the King & Queen of Norway, along with the King & Queen of Sweden, had their lunch there. We had the same menu. Cuisine and service aside the proprietor, Kristian, welcomed us by explaining... More
